Getting Back in the Saddle

Getting back on your bike is easier than you think!

It’s Like Riding a Bike
They say you never forget how to ride a bike. Before riding your neighborhood streets, try warming up in your driveway. A couple of laps will help you get your balance and figure out if you should make any adjustments before heading out. Your driveway is a great place to practice hand signals for those right- and left-hand turns you'll be making.

Ride With Friends
Riding with a friend, colleague or family member is a great way to stay motivated. Try to find someone with similar goals, whether it's just to have fun or to train for a race!

Set Goals
Strive for something more! Maybe you want to prove to yourself that a three-mile bike commute to work isn't so hard after all. Perhaps you just want to lose a couple of pounds before summer. Either way, setting goals can keep you focused.

Drink and Be Merry
Water, that is! The more water you drink, the better, longer and easier your ride can be. Try freezing one of your water bottles before you head out the door. The ice melts slowly, and cool water makes you feel refreshed.

Wear A Helmet
Always wear a helmet. It's cheap insurance should you or your kids ever need it when riding. And remember, kids under the age of 16 have to wear one. Set a good example each time you ride. Your kids will follow your lead.
