The Neighbors On The Go 2009 area is from West Boulevard to Garth Avenue, and between Ash Street and Rollins Road/MKT Trail.

Why was my neighborhood chosen?

With plenty of biking- and walking-friendly streets, nearby recreation venues, trail access and close proximity to everyday destinations like grocery stores and pharmacies, the Neighbors On The Go 2009 program wants to help more and more people in your area get out and about.

Why should I walk or bike?

Besides being fun, walking and biking to get from here to there gives you the chance to see your neighborhood in a whole new way. And they’re two of the cleanest, most energy-efficient forms of transportation around.

What are some benefits of walking and biking?

Replacing one short car trip with a walk or a bike ride can save you time and money any day of the week. Plus, that extra bit of activity can actually increase your energy level, making you feel good and more productive.

What else should I know before getting out and about?

  • Wear reflective or light-colored clothing.
  • Carry a flashlight and try to stay in well-lit areas at night.
  • Walk on sidewalks when you can or walk facing oncoming traffic when you can’t.
  • Always wear a bike helmet and use lights at night—white in front, red in back.
  • Ride in the same direction as traffic and use hand signals.
