Here are the top stories in Mobile today:
- Investigators are still looking into the cause of the shooting, which happened Wednesday night around 9:15 p.m. in the 2000 block of Northwest Drive. Mobile police arrived at the scene to find Cedric Lynch in his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, which was later pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbor Ernest Parker says it’s the first time anything like this has happened there, as he heard the shots too close to home and went outside in chaos with a woman screaming over the incident. It’s still unclear what led to the shooting, but police are working on the case. (Fox 10 News)
- This coming Wednesday marks the launch of the Spring 2023 Tourism Ambassador Program, which will hit the ground running to help promote tourism and tell stories about this great city. About 25 ambassadors are being trained to participate in this five-week program to learn about Mobile and promote it to visitors. Tourism is a staple in Mobile, bringing in about $1.5 billion and providing over 18,000 jobs, with the help of these ambassadors some tourists can become residents. (Fox 10 News)
- My Morning Jacket will play the historic Mobile Saenger Theater on Sunday, May 14th. The multi-award-nominated band will have more than four albums to choose from, with their latest set to be released in December 2022. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 24, and will be available online as well as in person at the Saenger Theater Box Office as well as the Mobile Civic Center Box Office. (NBC 15 WPMI)
