Lauren Bobert, who briefly worked at Burger King before returning to McDonald’s, met Jason when he stopped by for lunch with colleagues from the oil rig where he worked.

“From that moment on, Jason Bobert and I were together,” she wrote of their first meeting in her 2022 memoir, My American Life. “He just took my breath away. I instantly fell in love with Jason and knew without a doubt that he was the man I was meant to be with – for better or for worse – forever.”

She also wrote that they broke no Colorado laws while dating and that her mother approves of their relationship. The age of consent in Colorado is 17.

In 2004, Jason Bobert was arrested and charged with public indecency and indecent exposure after two women claimed he flashed his penis in front of them at the Fireside Lane bowling alley in Rifle, Colorado, Insider’s Nicole Gaudiano reported. He pleaded guilty and served four days in jail and two years of probation.

In her memoir, Lauren Bobert claims that her husband didn’t really expose himself and just “acted like he was going to unbutton his pants” after drinking too much, and that the police were called after he threw a basket of French fries by bowling alley owner.

“He knew the truth — and the truth was that he didn’t do what he was accused of,” she wrote. “But the whole experience opened Jason’s eyes to the reality that he needed the alcohol and anger management classes that came with the plea deal.”

Bobert, who started working at McDonald’s when he was 15 years olddropped out of high school in 2004 when she became pregnant.

“I was a brand new mother and had to make tough decisions about successfully raising my child or making it to high school biology class. And I chose to take care of my child,” she told The Durango Herald during the 2020 campaign.

The Boeberts already have four sons: Tyler, Brody, Caden and Roman, who are between the ages of 10 and 17, according to the bio on her official website.

Menu items at Shooters Grill include the “M16 burrito” and “bump stock corned beef hashish,” Insider’s Madison Hall reported.

The Bobert family also owned another restaurant, Smokehouse 1776, which sparked controversy in 2017 when The Daily Beast reported that dozens of people at a local rodeo in Colorado developed symptoms of food poisoning after eating pork at the restaurant.

A spokesman for Boebert’s campaign told The Daily Beast at the time that Smokehouse 1776 “did not receive a fine or any other type of disciplinary action” following a county health department inspection. The restaurant is no longer open.

Shooters Grill closed in 2022 after the restaurant’s landlord did not renew its lease. Bobert, a staunch gun rights activist, told the Post Independent at the time that she and her husband hoped to revive the Shooters brand through a different venture.

On the evening of Aug. 4, a neighbor called 911 after asking one of Bobert’s sons to stop speeding down the street in a dune buggy, The Denver Post reported.

“He’s going about 50 miles an hour and it’s a residential street, there’s kids,” a neighbor told 911 dispatchers, according to calls obtained by the Post. “We tried to stop him and he was just swearing at us and just walked away.”

A second neighbor called 911, claiming that Jason Bobert had hit the neighbor’s mailbox with his truck and claimed that “somebody was swinging at his kid and nobody did.”

“I’m sure it’s loaded to the brim. Do you know who his wife is? Lauren Bobert. It is loaded. They all have guns,” a neighbor said in a 911 call obtained by The Denver Post. “He just stood chest to chest, face to face, looking for a fight.”

When Sheriff Lou Valario arrived on the scene, all parties “agreed to handle it as neighbors. No charges. No further action,” according to the Post.

“Now, any of you who have young children who are giving life, there are some questions that come up, there’s some fear that comes up,” she said. “Now my son, when I went up to him and said, ‘Tyler, I’m going to be a 36-year-old grandmother,’ he said, ‘Well, didn’t you make a grandmother a 36-year-old grandmother? ‘ “I said ‘Yes I did’. He said, “Okay then, it’s hereditary.”
