Celebrity Big Brother’s Lateisha Grace reveals she suffered an ectopic pregnancy in heartbreaking update

Lateisha Grace has revealed she suffered an ectopic pregnancy in a heartbreaking update.

It comes after the 30-year-old Celebrity Big Brother star last week told how she was rushed to hospital for life-saving surgery, but did not elaborate on what happened.

But on Monday, the star shared with fans exactly what she went through, revealing how she found out she was pregnant three months ago.

Soon after, the mother-of-two woke up with a “terrible pain” in her stomach and collapsed on the bathroom floor before being taken to hospital.

An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants outside the womb, usually in the fallopian tube, meaning the baby cannot develop and leaves the mother’s health at risk.

“I woke up one morning with the worst pain in my stomach and collapsed on my bathroom floor, I was rushed to hospital to find out I hadn’t lost my baby, it was actually growing in the wrong place and it was an ectopic pregnancy.

“The scans showed I had severe internal bleeding! being told they had a blood transfusion on standby was so scary I was immediately taken to theater to be operated on as my tube was going to burst in a minute.

In her post, she shared a photo of her stomach with bandages on it and a photo of herself crying in a hospital bed.

She added: “I am so grateful to the hospital staff for saving my life, the doctors and nurses are real angels in disguise.

“Not only did I have to mourn my unborn baby twice, but I also lost my tube in the process.

“If anyone has been through this and has any advice on how to deal with such a terrible situation, it would be greatly appreciated.”

“Also, if anyone has any of the symptoms included in this post, please seek medical advice as soon as possible.”

WHAT IS ectopic pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants outside the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

The fallopian tubes are the tubes connecting the ovaries to the uterus. If an egg gets stuck in them, it will not develop into a baby.

In the UK, around one in 90 pregnancies is ectopic. That’s about 11,000 pregnancies a year.

An ectopic pregnancy does not always cause symptoms and may only be detected during a routine pregnancy scan.

Symptoms may include a combination of:

  • missed period and other signs of pregnancy
  • pain in abdomen low down on 1 side
  • vaginal bleeding or brown watery discharge
  • pain at the top of your shoulder
  • discomfort when peeing or pooping

Symptoms of a ruptured or opened fallopian tube are:

  • sharp, sudden and severe abdominal pain
  • feeling very dizzy, nauseous or fainting
  • he looks very pale

This is very serious and fallopian tube repair surgery should be done as soon as possible.

Tears can be life-threatening, but fortunately they are uncommon and treatable if treated quickly. Deaths from lacerations are extremely rare in the UK.
