The Middle East is emerging as a significant force in the global economy and is projected to accelerate its economic growth in the coming years, increasing the risk and scope of dangerous cyber threats. As cyber threats evolve and more customers seek “always-on” DDoS protection, having an in-country scrubbing center is critical to eliminating latency and delivering exceptional end-user experiences.

Akamai has actively served the Kingdom providing content and security services for many years through its on-premise Edge nodes – connected to the same core backbone that powers its edge network today – a massively distributed footprint spanning more than 4,100 edge PoPs in 131 countries.

With the escalating threat environment facing organizations in Saudi Arabia, the introduction of a new scrubbing center and Akamai’s authorized DDoS protection platform (Prolexic) will provide enhanced protection for businesses. This is especially important for high-risk industries, including banking, financial services and insurance, healthcare, public sector, large enterprises, group companies and e-commerce. These measures will contribute to the overall improvement of response time and performance when it comes to mitigating cyber attacks.

“This new DDOS cleanup center is another confirmation that the Kingdom has proven itself as a major global player in information technology and cyber security with the guidelines of Vision 2030. It will also help to maintain the balance between digital privacy and cyber security” , says Jack Diab, Chief Business Development Officer for Cyberia.

“In recent years, the economy has witnessed significant growth, driven by diversification and the emergence of both new start-ups and established multinational corporations. However, this bustling business landscape also expands the potential for cyberattacks, underscoring the importance of a localized focus on cybersecurity. Together with our expanding cybersecurity portfolio and thousands of dedicated security professionals, we reaffirm our recognition of this key global market. We are dedicated to protecting our customers’ data and strengthening our presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Janice Bhatia, Regional Channel Manager at Akamai Technologies.
