Barça Games, the world’s first video game platform created by a sports club, was launched today in line with the club’s aim to launch initiatives to create, in the long term, a digital space where players can interact in a previously unimaginable way. The platform is the result of a collaboration between FC Barcelona, Mas Ros MEdia and FireSPORTS, and users will have access to a series of activities that will encourage interaction with other fans. The launch of the new platform is part of the club’s aim to create digital content for entertainment, along with the mission to reach new audiences and reach new generations of fans.
The presentation of the Barça Games, which is expected to launch in April 2024, took place at the Barça Immersive Tour, in Europe’s largest immersion hall in a sports museum, and was attended by the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, as well as Marcos Santana, the founder of Mas Ros Media and Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes, the founder and CEO of FiReSPORTS.

“The creation of the Barça Games platform is a response to the club’s desire to continue to lead in terms of new opportunities and to help build the Digital Espai Barça, bringing together in one digital community all those Barça fans we have around the world and strengthening the feeling them for belonging to FC Barcelona”, said Joan Laporta in a speech that focused on the Club’s leadership in the digital arena and in which in 2022 and for the second consecutive year the Club generated the most engagement with its fans (more than 1, 4 million interactions) globally, consolidating its position as the most followed sports organization on social media with more than 400 million followers.
Sports and video games together on one platform
Marcos Santana, the founder of Mas Ros Media, highlighted in his speech “the emergence of broadband fragmented entertainment completely, sports and video games have become together the leaders of the sector”, adding that Barça Games “represents, both in one platform and under the Barça brand, one of the most important and up-to-date in sports worldwide.”
For his part, Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes, founder and CEO of FiReSPORTS, predicted: “Barça games will become a dream for the most important brands in the world, because they will allow them to connect with one of the most complex and difficult to reaching audiences, through creative, sophisticated and unique formats from the world famous FC Barcelona.”
Virtual table for Barca fans
The platform is currently under development, but in the next few months there will be announcements and events that will give an indication of the scope of the project that unites traditional sports with games and sports. More details will be released as the expected launch date approaches, but the presentation gave a look at the various activities that will be offered to users of the platform. Listening to music on Spotify, playing their favorite video games, participating in tournaments, interacting with other fans, access to an exclusive store to buy Barça Games T-shirts, as well as tickets to concerts and sporting events. Barça Games will offer on-demand content, fostering an interactive digital community around FC Barcelona and accessible to fans around the world. In addition, and thanks to the different ways of using the platform, users will be able to accumulate points that will allow them to become part of the Virtual Masia, a unique and world-famous place that has produced some of the most important players in FC Barcelona history and this will now have a digital version. As such, Virtual Masia will aim to develop gamers, both professionals and casual users, and promote educational ideas through forms such as streaming, broadcasting, production and social media management.
