I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve been doing pretty much everything in my power to avoid checking a bag. Between lost luggage, long wait times, and bag mishandling, it can be a bit of a gamble, and if I can, I’ll always make sure to keep my suitcase close to me. And sometimes, even with the most efficiently packed carry-on, some airlines will still require you to check your bag if the overhead bins get too full. But after trying out the Baggallini Underseat Carry On on a recent trip to Florida, that’s all a thing of the past.

I’ve used fantastic weekend bags, lightweight handbags, and more, and while I still treasure those bags, my travel experience with the Baggallini Underseat Carry-On makes me wonder if I’ll ever fully return to my usual favorites. And even better, with this bag, I don’t have to worry about paying pesky bag fees again.

Measuring 4.5 inches by 15 inches by 8.5 inches, this two-wheeled underseat bag meets most airlines’ carry-on and personal requirements (including Spirit Airlines’ policy of 18 inches by 14 inches by 8 inches personal things). This means you can pack this spacious bag without worrying about checking it or it taking up too much space in the compartments above the seat. And even if you’re one of the last people to board, the handy carry-on can ride with you thanks to its compact profile that slides right under the seat in front of you.

For his inaugural testing, which was a four-day trip to visit family, I packed conservatively—bringing just three outfits and two sets of pajamas. But on the way back (after a thrifty weekend), I managed to fit in seven outfits, three pajama sets, and a pair of sneakers. This is easily a week’s worth of clothes! Thanks to its smart design with multiple large compartments, mesh side pockets and more (including one for your laptop), I was able to fit more and stay organized with less space.

But its spaciousness isn’t the only thing that left me in awe. Made of lightweight, waterproof nylon material, two smooth rolling wheels and a retractable handle, the Baggallini Underseat Carry On helped me fly through the airport, leaving me amazed at how little I felt like I was carrying. I actually had to unzip the bag halfway through to check and make sure all my belongings were still in there because of how light it felt (especially compared to a traditional, bulky carry-on). And then when I boarded my flight, I slid it right under the seat in front of me and still had plenty of legroom.

In addition to its spacious yet durable construction, this underseat carry-on is also equipped with RFID blocking card slots to keep your credit cards, passports and other important documents safe. And since I was traveling so light on this particular trip, I used these smart compartments and really felt like my belongings were protected.

Although this was my first time using this stellar bag under the seat, I know for sure it won’t be the last. I’m already excited and thinking about my next trip with my Baggallini carry-on under the seat.
