Gravity Media has appointed Steve Kruger as Chief Technology Officer

Gravity Media, the world’s leading global provider of sophisticated live media facilities and production services, continues the expansion of its talented, senior team with the announcement of the key appointment of Steve Kruger as new CEO – with Pete Newton stepping up to the new role of executive. director – media services and facilities.

Steve Kruger joins Gravity Media fresh from ITV Studios Entertainment where he was Head of Technology. In his new role, he will be based in the UK and lead Gravity Media’s technical function across the global operation. Steve’s recent career highlights include overseeing the design and installation of remote broadcast and post installations for ITV’s Love Island during challenging Covid conditions.

Prior to ITV, Steve worked at BBC Studios – Post Production, Cutting Edge Post UK and Cutting Edge Australia, where Steve provided a useful and diverse skill set spanning OB, studios and post-production. His creative and technical projects have also been award winners, as he was part of the 2021 BAFTA winning team for his work on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in Wales and was nominated for a BAFTA in 2020 for his work on Love Island became a candidate.

Over the past 23 years, Steve has worked on some of the UK’s most ambitious TV shows across a variety of genres: Reality (I’m Famous, Get Me Out, Hell’s Kitchen, Love Island), Sport (London Olympics) and live TV from some very unusual places (Saturday Night Live from a cruise ship, I’m Famous in the USA in Costa Rica, Survival of the Fittest in Far South Africa).

In addition, his appointment will allow Gravity Media to focus on its own Gravity Media workflows and post-production techniques, bringing effective solutions to the end user and enabling us to provide the best technical delivery to the market.

Pete Newton’s newly expanded role as CEO of Gravity Media – media services and facilities means he will be responsible for focusing on the growth of the operating business, working towards the strategic expansion of all global business units supported by all assets. Working closely with Steve, they will jointly lead the development of all technical solutions. They will ensure that the latest technology enables all content creators to tell their best stories.

Having worked with Gravity Media since joining Gearhouse Broadcast UK in October 1998 – Pete was head of UK project engineering before being appointed technical manager in January 2016 and then technical director in January 2018. A year later, Pete was appointed CTO of Gravity Media.

Pete will lead large, complex projects and target key clients in line with business strategy, developing a pipeline of opportunities to support Gravity Media’s growth. Pete will also prioritize building a strong external and internal network to promote Gravity Media’s services and value proposition.
