Health Department Conducts Inspections – Sent-trib

The Wood County Health Department conducted inspections in Perrysburg, Bowling Green, Northwood and Rossford during the second week of April.

The following inspections were carried out on April 10.

Dollar General Store1125 S. Main St., Bowling Green, had one non-critical violation, which was the facility not being kept clean (repeat).

Burger King10796 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, had two critical violations and one non-critical violation.

Temperature-controlled foods that were not kept hot at the correct temperature were critical; and improper use of time as a public health control (four hours). Both were corrected during the inspection.

Non-critical equipment surfaces that do not come into contact with food are unclean.

The next inspections were carried out on April 11.

Campus market780 S. College Drive, Bowling Green, has one non-critical violation, which is that equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted (repeat).

Mike’s party March, 834 S. Main St., Bowling Green, had two non-critical violations that were a service sink or limited cleaning facility that was not provided and/or conveniently located; and Physical facilities are not maintained in good condition.

BP Woodville3808 Woodville Road, Northwood, had two critical and two noncritical violations.

Critical were probationers who were not properly excluded or restricted; and improper use of a poisonous or toxic substance (corrected during inspection).

Non-critical were the lack of written procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrhea; and the food retail establishment does not meet the requirements for level one certification.

The following inspections were carried out on April 12.

YMCA of Greater Toledo/Owens Community College Childcare Center30335 Oregon Road, Perrysburg, had one non-critical violation, which was physical facilities not maintained in good repair.

Comfort Apartments27450 Helen Drive, Perrysburg, had two critical and two non-critical violations.

Temperature-controlled foods not kept cold at the correct temperature were critical (repeat); and there is no air gap or approved plumbing system backflow prevention device.

Food stored in a restricted area is non-critical; and equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency (repeat).

Market at Carillon Place Carillon Place Dining Center – BGSU, Bowling Green, had two non-critical violations that were surfaces that did not come into contact with food and were not easily cleaned (repeat); and retail food establishments constructed, altered and/or added equipment without prior approval of the licensor.

Market at Offenhauer, 522 W. Thurstin Ave., Bowling Green, had three non-critical violations, which were improper food storage; equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted; and non-food contact surfaces are not easily cleaned (repeat).

On further inspection, Sweetfish – Bubble Tea Poke Bowl, 26597 N. Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg, has five non-critical violations that are a food thermometer not readily accessible; non-food contact surfaces are not easily cleaned; equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency; floors, walls and/or ceilings are not smooth and easy to clean; and changing rooms or lockers are not being used properly.

The following inspections were carried out on April 13.

Friendship Grocery Store24010 Front St., Grand Rapids, had two critical and three noncritical violations.

Critical are cases where employees are not informed in a verifiable way about their responsibility to report information about their health (repetition); and improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials (repeat).

Non-critical were the lack of written procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrhea; improper use or placement of insect control devices (corrected during inspection); and waste receptacles are not properly covered.

Dollar General, 18300 Pemberville Road, Pemberville, had three non-critical offenses that were eating, drinking or using tobacco by an employee in an unspecified area; Waste receptacles for waste or recyclables stored so as to be accessible to insects and/or rodents; and mops dried improperly.

Pemberville Carey Outside450 Front St., had one non-critical violation, which was a hot and cold storage equipment thermometer missing, improperly located or not easily read.

Peace Pumps DBA Way Creators24125 Front St., Grand Rapids, has one non-critical violation, which is equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency.

The next inspections were carried out on April 14.

When checking on a complaint, A bar Louie, 4105 Levis Commons Blvd., Perrysburg, had two non-critical violations, which were that non-food contact equipment surfaces were unclean; and physical facilities not maintained in good condition (repeat).

The department received a complaint on April 14 that three people ate pasta, trio dip and southern mac and cheese on April 12 and became ill that evening. The person in charge reported that there were no employees in the establishment who reported illness. All food items observed during inspection are held and cooked at appropriate temperatures.

Panda Express9990 Olde US 20, Rossford, has one critical violation, which is that temperature-controlled foods were not hot, held at the correct temperature (repetition corrected during inspection).

On further inspection, Get healthy Eating126 W. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, had one critical and five non-critical violations.

Critical were raw shell eggs not held at 45° F or below (repeat corrected during inspection).

Noncritical were hand-washing water below 100°F; inadequate equipment available for cooling, heating or storing food (repetition); improper storage of food products; food worker(s) not wearing a hair restraint; and equipment not approved by a recognized testing agency.

Jimmy of John10081 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, had one critical and seven noncritical violations.

Improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials was critical. Corrected on review.

Non-critical when the site does not have an employee with a food safety manager certificate; external opening is not protected; food worker(s) not wearing a hair restraint (corrected during inspection); blocks or cutting boards cannot be effectively cleaned and disinfected; physical facilities are not maintained in good condition; without protective shielding of the lights; and the food service operation did not have a shift supervisor with a food safety supervisor certificate.
