World-renowned pianist, recording artist and one of Helena’s favorite soloists, Claire Huangchi returns to perform Rachmaninoff’s breathtakingly beautiful Second Piano Concerto. The celebration of Rachmaninov’s 150th birthday opens with his reflective vocalism, and the concert also includes the lively playfulness of Poulenc’s Gloria.

“Rachmaninov’s Second and Third Piano Concertos are performed all the time and are extremely difficult for the pianist,” explains Maestro Scott. “There are very few things that are more difficult than that, and the pianist has to absorb every part of the piano and be incredibly powerful with it. It’s very intimate and lavish, and the orchestra sings with the pianist.”

Concert tickets may be purchased ($15 – $55 plus $5 transaction fee) online at www.helenasymphony.org, by calling the Symphony Box Office 406-442-1860 or visiting the Symphony Box Office located on the Downtown Walking Mall at Placer Building (21 N. Last Chance Gulch, Suite 100) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
