FOOTBALL FOR BOYS

Division I quarterfinals

North Kingstown 1, Central Falls 0

Jake Pezzagoal of, after a pass from Noah Korzhenovsky, in the 65th minute broke a scoreless tie and led the Skippers to victory. North Kingstown controlled most of the game, but the Central Falls goalie Juan Ramirez kept it close by making 13 saves. Ethan Ford made 4 saves and became the winner. With the win, NK improves to 11-2-2, while CF drops to 4-11-4.

Division II quarterfinals

North Smithfield 4, Tiverton 0

Cranston West 4, Westerly 2

FOOTBALL FOR GIRLS

Division I Quarterfinals

Mount Hope 4, South Kingstown 0

Thea Jackson scored three goals and assisted one Sarah Nenkaand Emily Moran earned the shutout, making 10 saves as the Huskies recorded the quarterfinal victory. Abby O’Rourke finished with 14 saves for the Rebels. With the win, Mount Hope advances to the semifinals and will play Charijo on Tuesday at 5:00 pm at Rhode Island College.

Division II Quarterfinals

Portsmouth 4, North Smithfield 0

The Patriots scored 4 goals in the first half, which is all the offense they needed to blank the Northmen and advance. Portsmouth face Lincoln next week in the semi-final round.

VOLLEYBALL FOR GIRLS

Division I Quarterfinals

Charijo 3, East Greenwich 0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-23)

Four players paved the way for Chariho’s win over East Greenwich in their quarterfinal match. They contributed to the victory Emma Kokab (22 digs, 3 assists, 4 aces), Jules White (11 kills, 8 digs), Katya Nelson (9 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace, 1 assist) and Alexis Cole (3 kills, 9 digs, 27 assists). The Avengers, playing their last game of the season, received strong outings from Abby Gerzon (28 assists), Gabby Jackson (9 kills) and A beautiful wanderer (7 kills, 6 blocks).

Division II Quarterfinals

Mt. Hope 3, Bay View 2 (25-13, 25-17, 21-25, 23-25, 15-11)

Mia Shaw put up some serious stats (32 assists, 16 digs and 11 kills) helping the Huskies defeat Bay View in their quarterfinal match. They also contributed to the victory Sarah Wilcox (15 digs, 10 kills, 5 aces), Grace Gerhardt (11 kills, 3 aces), Mia Hanson (14 digs, 4 aces) and Abby Allen (5 blocks). Bay View didn’t go down without a fight thanks to the play of Avery Gomez (16 kills, 10 digs), Come Ruenzo (9 kills), Gianna Paolino (38 assists, 3 kills, 2 aces) and Maddie Gomez (31 excavations).

Division III Quarterfinals

Tolman 3, Narragansett 1 (29-27, 20-25, 25-13, 25-21)

The combination of Trinity Burke (11 kills, 7 digs, 3 blocks, 2 aces), Sally Garcia (14 kills, 5 digs, 5 aces) and Niomi Gomez (11 digs, 1 ace) led the Tigers to a tough quarterfinal victory. The Mariners, who finish their season with a 7-9 record in III-A, were led by Claire O’Berhew (13 digs, 7 aces, 8 kills) and Scarlett Massey (2 kills, 8 assists, 10 digs). Tolman is now 14-3 in III-B.
