CHADRON, Nebraska / LAKEWOOD, CO Things haven’t changed in Western Colorado this season. However, the Mountaineers will look to bounce back this week when they face Chadron State College (Jan. 28) and Colorado Christian University (Feb. 2).

MOUNTAINEEPERS HEAD FOR THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATISTICS | RMAC STATISTICS

  • Western will look to snap a six-game losing streak, currently sitting in 14th place (1-13) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) standings.
  • Avery Rembao and Robel Desta are the leading scorers for the Mountaineers, averaging 14.3 points apiece in the RMAC contest (tied for 12th in the RMAC). At the free throw line, Desta leads the team at 80.8 percent (ninth in the RMAC), and a few spots down is Rembao, who is shooting 75.7 percent (15th in the RMAC). From beyond the arc, Jaelan McCloud is the team’s leading shooter at 43.8 percent, and from the field, Desta leads the team at 36.9 percent.
  • Defensively, Gino Corridori is the team’s top tackler, grabbing 7.3 rebounds (seventh in the RMAC) and sitting 12th in the RMAC is Desta, who is grabbing 6.3 rebounds. The team’s top rim protector, Desta blocked 0.6 shots (eighth in the RMAC).
  • As a team, the Mountaineers have the 15th-ranked offense, scoring 64.6 points, and the 13th-ranked defense, giving up 78.1 points. Western shot 37.3 percent from the field (15th in the RMAC), 31 percent from three (14th in the RMAC) and 72.9 percent (11th in the RMAC).

EAGLES LOOK TO CONTINUE WINNING STREAK

  • Things have been going well for Chadron State of late, winning their last five games, which puts them in fifth place (10-5) in the RMAC standings.
  • The Eagles are led by the trio of Isaiah Wyatt, Josh Robinson and Bryce Latimer, who are the top three scorers for Chadron State. Wyatt averages 15.1 ppg (10th in RMAC), Robinson 14.1 ppg (13th in RMAC) and Latimer 13.4 ppg (15th in RMAC). Robinson leads the team in field goal percentage, making 57.5 percent (second in the RMAC), while Patrick McLachlan leads the team from beyond the arc at 42.6 percent (fifth in the RMAC). Right behind McLachlan is Wyatt, who is making 41.3 percent (sixth in the RMAC). At the free throw line, Chadron State is led by Latimer, who makes 84.5 percent.
  • Defensively, Marcus Jefferson leads the team in steals with 1.4 (tied for sixth in the RMAC) and is followed by MJ Foust, who averages 1.1 (tied for ninth in the RMAC). In terms of rebounding, Robinson leads the team with 8.1, which is fourth in the RMAC. Sitting 12th in the RMAC in rebounding, Wyatt is grabbing 5.9 boards.
  • As a team, Chadron State has the fifth-ranked offense, scoring 75.5 points, and the sixth-ranked defense, giving up 72 points. The Eagles are shooting 44.7 percent from the field (eighth in the RMAC), 36.7 percent from three (fourth in the RMAC) and 73 percent from the free throw line (tenth in the RMAC).

COUGURS TRYING TO GET BACK ON TRACK

  • Colorado Christian will look to snap its two-game losing streak on Saturday (Feb. 2) after losing 76-88 to Chadron State on Tuesday. With the loss, the Cougars find themselves in 13th place (4-11) in the RMAC standings.
  • Jason Gallant leads the way for Colorado Christian with an average of 13.9 points (14th in the RMAC) and gets help from DJ McDonald who scores 13.2 points (17th in the RMAC). Noah Cohn leads the team from the field, making 49.5 percent (11th in the RMAC). From beyond the arc, McDonald is 13th in the RMAC at 33 percent. At the free throw line, Gallant leads the RMAC with 94 percent.
  • Defensively, Maro Egodotaye is the team’s top shot blocker, blocking one shot per game (fourth in the RMAC). A few spots down, Isaiah Alonzo blocks 0.7 shots, which is tied for seventh in the RMAC. Kon is also a factor on the defensive end, recording 1.4 steals, which currently ranks sixth in the RMAC. On the glass, Alonzo has chased it down this season, grabbing 7.4 boards (tied for sixth in the RMAC).
  • As a team, Colorado Christian has the 14th-ranked offense, averaging 65.6 points, and the eighth-ranked defense, allowing 74.9 points. The Cougars are shooting 42.3 percent from the field (13th in the RMAC), 32.5 percent from three (tied for 12th in the RMAC) and 71.1 percent from the free throw line (13th in the RMAC).
