High Point, North Carolina — High Point University Athletics is pleased to announce that its Sports Medicine Department has been featured on the front cover of the 2023 Medco Product Guide, published March 6.
The nearly 850-page catalog highlights HPU’s Department of Sports Medicine and its facilities in the state-of-the-art Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center over the first five pages. This is a product guide that is distributed nationwide to athletic departments, physical therapy clinics, and sports medicine providers.
“We are very proud of our High Point University Sports Medicine Department! Every day, our dedicated staff provides exceptional health care for our HPU student-athletes,” said HPU Athletic Director and Vice President Dan Hauser. “HPU Athletics focuses on collaboration and investing in state-of-the-art equipment to provide our team with the best tools to manage student-athlete care. The results over the past eight years have proved successful with record setting championships and sporting achievements. “
Since Joshua Geruso joined his alma mater as associate athletic director for sports medicine in 2015, he has competed to put HPU front and center in Medco’s product leadership. After eight years, the 2003 HPU graduate’s wish was finally granted and he was able to showcase the Panthers’ extraordinary facilities, staff and student-athletes.
“With the resources we have here at the facilities, I believe we can be a really competitive program nationally,” Geruso said in an exclusive interview with Medco. “What we’re doing here has certainly proven — over the last eight years that I’ve been here — that we can go from a No. 200-ranked program to a top-75 program, and hopefully we can go from there.”
Every year HPU raises the bar and it was shown when HPU won the 2022 Sasser Cup, given to the best overall track and field program in the Big South, for the first time in program history. The success of student-athletes mirrors the work in the field of sports medicine as the HPU staff relies on its mission to deliver on the university’s promise to be extraordinary in every aspect.
“The mission of the High Point University Department of Sports Medicine is to provide exceptional health care by utilizing an interdisciplinary team to provide our student-athletes with a holistic environment that will promote their athletic and personal well-being, all within the role of greater institutional links with the sports medicine department and the university. Key initiatives to help achieve the sports medicine department’s goal include a commitment to excellence, continuing education, data-driven decisions, efficient use of resources, effective communication and departmental transparency.”
