During the discussion with Sean, George said: “It’s hard to be fully yourself in this environment anyway, you’re with people you don’t know.

“You only get a superficial experience of who they are. I lack the stimulation I need. I think all those people would be more fun here. Sue, I think it’s going to be a hoot outside.

“Mike is a lot wilder out here, I’ve read stories. People are not themselves and I can see it.

“So I don’t understand why in this series and other people mention that this guy is not himself. Not the rules.

Another person suggested that because of his love of drama, Boy George was probably on the wrong show and should have opted to appear on Celebrity Big Brother instead.

Another said: “Couldn’t agree more with Boy George. I find fake nice very suffocating. It’s not rebellion or cruelty, just honesty. Where is the problem?

It was reported on Saturday that George had threatened to quit I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here this week as he clashed with producers of the ITV show.

It was said that he was unhappy that he could not return to camp from the Bushtucker Golf Buggy ordeal, as fellow campmate Sue Cleaver was.

Citing that the soap star has special conditions, meaning she cannot walk up the steep hill between the pitches and the camp, a source told The Sun that the singer was made to walk up the hill instead of catching transport – as a result of which he burst -up.

According to the post, Boy George and the other campers had to walk back to camp from the Bushtucker ordeal – while Sue was picked up in a golf buggy due to a condition that meant she couldn’t walk up the steep hill.

But the singer claims he’s not happy he can’t get a lift, as the source goes on to say he stole an apple from a grower and hid nearby so he couldn’t be filmed.

“Boy George threw on a huge leash and asked to be driven in his own buggy – but ITV wouldn’t do it as they said it wouldn’t be fair to the others,” the source told the publication.

“He then burst into one of the production crew’s tents and pinched an apple before hiding behind the trees so he couldn’t be caught by any of the show’s cameras,” they continued.

“He was threatening to leave the show and at this point he probably would have.”

Boy George is said to have calmed down and returned to camp after seeing the producers’ side.

MailOnline has contacted ITV representatives for comment, while a representative for Boy George took to the star’s Instagram in response.

Describing him as a “complex and interesting” person who wants to “challenge himself”, George’s rep wrote: “He’s probably hungry and bored and doesn’t like games or people pretending to be something they’re not.”

“If you want real honesty and watching emotional challenges being dealt with by someone who is recovering and working every day to be a better person, then go on his journey with him,” he added. “Who in this camp could possibly know what it’s like to be Boy George?”

Ending the lengthy statement with, “It’s going to be a bumpy ride and you might not see him playing hide-and-seek, you might see him get annoyed, but he’s wonderful and genuine and that’s fascinating… Reality TV doesn’t always present things as they are . ‘

And it’s certainly been a bumpy ride for the star so far, who has clashed with her campmates since entering the villa.
