Jennifer Lopez and Anne Hathaway have also worn baggy pants
Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t need to expand her fashion horizons — she already looks great in her wide-leg jeans.
On Saturday, on No bad feelings the actress made her way through the streets of New York in a simple but stylish outfit consisting of a long coat with a belt, baggy jeans and some gray sneakers. And we were immediately reminded why we say “No offense, skinny jeans, but we’re sticking with the wider styles for now.”

We saw J. Law in a similar wide-leg pair back in August of last year, but this time she took a dressier approach while also including room at the bottom of her jeans. Plus, plenty of other celebs have been giving us wide-leg style inspiration lately: Anne Hathaway wore a pair of bell bottoms in Paris a few weeks ago, and Jennifer Lopez wore a cargo version of the laid-back silhouette this month.
We don’t want to talk about all the reasons why you need a pair, but it would be remiss not to mention a few. They’re the opposite of jeans that are so tight they hurt, they’re perfectly casual and luxe at the same time, and they’re affordable.
To join the fashion crowd, grab this newly launched pair of wide leg front jeans from Spanx. Forget your “sit-on jeans”, your “stand-up jeans” and even your “eating jeans” because the wide-leg style is also roomy on top – there’s no tight zip, you just pull them on. To copy J.Law’s look as closely as possible, grab a pair in Vintage Indigo, but note that Spanx also sells an ecru version.
Spanx sent me the latest ones to try on and although I haven’t had a chance to officially try them on, having tried them on I can attest that they are super stretchy. Oh, and my mom immediately started complimenting them.

For dark clothes, Gap sells these $80 High Rise Stride Jeans, which come in a wide range of sizes (regular, tall, and petite), so anyone can rock them. One buyer even chimed in, writing, “I read a comment about a 50-year-old woman wondering if she would look funny in these jeans. Well, I’m weeks away from 50 and I was wondering the same thing. I’m happy to report that they don’t look funny and are very flattering and leg-lengthening.”
