Trump has been charged in the Stormy Daniels investigation as the first former US president to face criminal charges
Donald Trump will appear in court in New York early next week to face criminal charges over secret payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the days leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
New York court officials confirmed the former president is expected to appear for arraignment at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
On Thursday, Mr Trump became the first former president in US history to face criminal charges after a Manhattan grand jury investigating his role in the payments voted to indict him.
Multiple reports indicate that Mr. Trump faces more than 30 counts of business fraud, although the details of the indictment are not yet known.
On Friday morning, his lawyer Joe Tacopina launched a new media blitz, insisting there was “zero chance” the former president would accept a plea deal in the criminal case.
The former president fumed about the indictment in statements posted on his Truth Social platform overnight Thursday, where he pushed back against the “corruption” allegations, said he could not get a fair trial in New York and attacked Judge Juan Murchan, who was assigned to the case.
“His soul is completely connected to our basic emotions”
Donald Trump’s supporters were predictably upset after the announcement Thursday night that the former president had been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury.
Among the chorus of conservative voices screaming in despair, one stood out; a group of young Republicans who likened the former president to an American soul personified.
Greig Graziosi there is the story.

Voices: Donald Trump is in big trouble – but he’s not alone
Former President Donald Trump is in trouble. But Trumpism in the Republican Party is stronger than ever. Bigotry, lies, conspiracy theories—even as Trump falls, his style of rage, resentment, and hatred rises in the party that raised him and that he now embodies.

Could the Stormy Daniels indictment hush money overshadow other Trump investigations?
The indictment against former President Donald Trump involving a payment to suppress allegations of extramarital sex has raised concerns that it could undermine public confidence in what democracy experts say are far more important investigations.
Trump is facing multiple investigations related to his refusal to accept his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020. These include whether he pressured election officials to overturn the results, encouraged bogus voters from battleground states and his role in the events , leading to the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
