Admit it, you love a list as much as we do.

Because, really, isn’t it less stressful to argue about the best movie or song of the year than to argue about politics?

Maybe it depends on your household.

But we don’t just love lists, we exist to create them. Analyzing and condensing the best of the year and providing critical insight into why these artistic endeavors are worth your time and money is not only a fun task, but a mission.

We take these things seriously. We are also very popular at parties.

So while USA TODAY’s entertainment corps craft individual summaries of their handpicked movies, music, TV, theater, pop culture, we’ll make it easy.

So, we give you… a list of lists.

The best movies of 2023

USA TODAY film critic Brian Truitt declared this a “great” year in film and praised the variety of stellar offerings. How often do we get to celebrate a sneaker story (“Air”), a gorgeous musical about sisterhood and trauma (“The Color Purple”) and the smart existential crisis of a beautiful blonde doll (“Barbie”) in the same calendar year? This was the one.

The best songs of 2023

Have you ever tried to make a list of just 10 songs out of the hundreds you’ve probably listened to over the year? It’s not easy, is it? Let’s face it, we didn’t come into 2023 thinking we might hear a new Beatles song; we just thought Taylor Swift would rule it all (and she did). But along with a few surprises, it was also a year of reflection in pop and rock, as Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and the Foo Fighters were among those sharing their vulnerabilities.

The best concerts of 2023

Speaking of Taylor Swift, yes, she had a pretty amazing year. So is Beyoncé, who toured the world with her elaborate Renaissance tour. But none of them, in our thousand-concert-reviewed opinion, offered on best show of the year. You can read the list to find out who snuck past them for the #1 spot, but take a moment to remember how empty our lives have been without live music for most of 2020, and how exciting it is the feeling when the house lights go out.

The best TV shows of 2023

Even with the unprecedented work stoppage caused by both the acting (SAG-AFTRA) and writing (WGA) strikes, television has still managed to keep us entertained on our couches with plenty of gems from streamers and networks. TV critic Kelly Lawler praises the “deep and thoughtful … fun and funny” range of this “Fargo” installation, revels in the frantic tension of “The Bear” and reminds us how we can’t wait for the return of the bittersweet “Abbott Elementary.”

Here’s a roundup of the best TV shows of 2023.

The Best Broadway Shows of 2023

You don’t always need Josh Groban (“Sweeney Todd”), Daniel Radcliffe (“Merrily We Roll Along”) or Jessica Chastain (“A Doll’s House”) to put on a compelling theatrical performance. But it doesn’t hurt. While many A-list names dotted the marquees of New York’s theater district this year, there were just as many low-key charmers.

The biggest pop culture moments of 2023

From Britney to Bad Bunny, the girls who rule the world (that would be Beyoncé and Taylor) to the death of a true queen, the year in pop culture was full of memories. But with the good comes the sad, and deaths (Matthew Perry, Tina Turner, Andre Braugher) and divorces (Hugh Jackman, Cardi B, Joe Jonas) have also caused varying levels of mourning.

Here’s a look at the biggest pop culture moments of 2023.
