The Chamber is preparing for the Green Business Expo

The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber’s Green Business Committee and the City of Carlsbad are hosting Green Business Expo 2023, marking the 53rd anniversary of Earth Day in North County. The expo runs from 8 a.m. to noon April 8 in the chamber office parking lot, 5934 Priestly Drive. The event will feature local businesses and learn about green practices to use at home and in business and how it pays to be green. Free to the public. Green businesses can register to have a stand at the event. The cost is $149 for Carlsbad Chamber members and $199 for non-members. Sponsorships are also available. Carlsbad Premium Outlets hosts pet-friendly events

Carlsbad Premium Outlets is participating in the “All Paws Lead to Carlsbad” initiative with Visit Carlsbad and more than 20 other local businesses. This program encourages visitors to enjoy their vacation with their four-legged friends. At Carlsbad Premium Outlets, owners and their pets can shop while keeping pets comfortable with water bowls and pet waste containers. Take a photo of your pet at any of the mall’s photo stations until April 2nd. Tag @carlsbad_po to post on social media for a chance to win a $200 spring shopping spree. Aged care service opens up shop

Senior Helpers, a provider of personalized home care for seniors, has opened a new franchise that will be managed and operated by Cort Peters. The business will serve seniors and their families in Escondido, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista, La Costa and San Diego and aims to create more than 75 new jobs in the region. The North San Diego Chamber of Commerce is hosting another in its Leadership Academy series, Manager vs. Leader, at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Learn the differences and how to lead, not just manage. Shopper wins the top title for bargain hunting

Diana Cruz Ortiz won Mission Marketplace’s Oceanside Best Shopper contest recently, taking home $1,000. Cruz Ortiz works at the Armed Forces YMCA at Camp Pendleton. She and her husband, a retired Marine, have two sons, ages 8 and 13. Cruz Ortiz and four other finalists — Kimberly Aguilar, Stacey Anderson, Abby Glauch and Michelle Reyes — were selected from essays to enter the contest on the topic of Why I’m Oceanside’s Best Buyer. Everyone won $500 to shop Mission Marketplace in the three-hour competition and make the smartest purchases for the money. The judges reviewed the purchases and named Cruz Ortiz as Oceanside’s top buyer. Mission Marketplace is at 471 College Blvd.

Chamber plans hiring event, expo

The Poway Chamber of Commerce is seeking sponsors and vendors for its 2023 Business Expo & Hiring Event, which will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on April 4 at the Mickey Cafagna Community Center Oak Hall, 13094 Civic Center Drive.
