Palace releases ‘princess recovery’ update as chilling latest photo of Catherine, Princess of Wales spotted

Kensington Palace has released a new statement as concern grows for the welfare of Catherine, Princess of Wales, following her abdominal surgery in January.

After Prince William abruptly pulled out of his late godfather’s memorial on Tuesday due to a “personal matter,” rumors of Kate’s recovery accelerated.

The last time the Princess of Wales was seen in public was at Christmas.

A spokesman has since released a rare statement, repeating that the palace made it clear in January that the princess was not expected to be seen until after Easter.

“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timeline for the Princess’ recovery and we will only provide significant updates.” This guidance remains in place,” the spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

The palace confirmed on January 17 that Kate, 42, had undergone successful “planned” abdominal surgery and will step back from royal duties until around Easter.

In a strange twist, hours later her father-in-law, King Charles, was also admitted – in his case openly stating he was undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate.

During their 13-day hospital stay, Prince William was spotted visiting his wife once on Thursday, January 18.

Kate’s siblings Pippa and James Middleton and parents Carole and Michael Middleton have never been seen publicly visiting the London hospital.

Queen Camilla has been spotted visiting her husband at least three times.

Kate and Charles were discharged within hours, but Kate was not seen leaving the hospital when she returned to her home in Windsor.

King Charles was reportedly seen hours later with Camilla smiling for the cameras as he left London Hospital.

The statement from Kensington Palace comes hours after William returned to royal duties with a visit to the Western Marble Arch Synagogue in central London.

The Prince of Wales delivered the message on behalf of his wife when he spoke to members of the Holocaust Education Trust, which advocates against anti-Semitism.

“Both Catherine and I are extremely concerned about the rise in anti-Semitism that you talked about this morning, and I’m just sorry if any of you have had to experience that, there’s no place,” he said.

“That’s why I’m here today to assure you that people care and they’re listening, and we can’t let this go.”

However, William gave no clue as to why he missed the service for his godfather, the late former Greek King Constantine, on Tuesday.

William left 30 minutes before the expected start of the service at Windsor Castle, a short walk from his home on the grounds, Adelaide Cottage, the Daily Mail reports.

Charles also did not attend, leaving Camilla to represent the royal family at the service.

Concern over William’s withdrawal was so great that Kensington Palace issued a statement about Kate’s condition.

“The Princess of Wales continues to do well,” the palace said on Wednesday.

Kate was last seen in public 67 days ago on December 25, 2023, when she attended a church service with William and their children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

The last picture taken of the Princess during this occasion is a shot from behind showing the Princess walking behind King Charles and Queen Camilla with her head slightly turned.

More than two months later, the photo looks chilling as it is the last photo of Kate before the operation.

Royal commentator Russell Myers noted on Friday that Charles and Kate’s teams are “choosing such different tactics” in dealing with the health issue.

“On the one hand, Kate’s health is very closely guarded and we are often told that she has a right to privacy,” he told Sunrise.

“In this case, she chose to keep her medical information private.”

Meanwhile, he said the king’s “openness” about his prostate surgery and cancer diagnosis had been welcomed.

“I think it was really, really positive.

“First, talking about his enlarged prostate, second, his cancer and the huge increase in people having access to information and (looking at) the signs and symptoms of both diseases.”

Myers said it was a “positive step for the king.”

“On the other hand, with Kate’s condition, they didn’t give us much. So that opened the door for speculations that are currently doing the rounds on social media,” he said.

“The rumor mill has been going wild, certainly over the last few weeks, because the Prince of Wales missed the memorial service this week and we’ve had a bit more information that she’s still progressing well.”

Myers said the main “problem” was the palace’s statement that they did not want to provide ongoing comment on Catherine’s health.
