After signing a massive $450 million contract extension in 2020, Mahomes made a series of investments in both local and national franchises. Here are some of the most famous:
Whataburger
Few things represent the lonely star state quite like a good burger. Mahomes should know. Not only was he born in Texas. But he also bought a hefty stake in Whataburger, the Texas-based fast-food restaurant that specializes in burgers and fries. While it’s unclear how much Mahomes has invested in the company, it appears to be making an impact: The company plans to open 30 locations in the Kansas City area by 2027.
Kansas City Royals
As the son of a former MLB player, baseball has always been in Mahomes’ DNA. And while he hasn’t quite followed in his father Pat’s footsteps, he retains a keen interest in the sport — so much so that he purchased a minority stake in his adopted hometown’s MLB team in 2020.

Sporting KC
Mahomes has since added some other sports sides to his repertoire, joining the Sporting Kansas City ownership group in 2021. The MLS club has yet to accomplish much of anything since Mahomes bought a stake. However, with a relatively new stadium and a fanbase known for its vociferous support, don’t be surprised if SKC climbs the league table sooner rather than later.

Mahomes isn’t the only one in his family throwing in some bread to help a local sports team. In fact, his wife Brittany — a former student and professional soccer player — became a part owner of the NWSL’s expanding Kansas City franchise in 2021.
Mahomes soon threw his support behind the club, joining the franchise’s ownership group in January 2023. In doing so, he became the active NFL player to have an equity stake in an NWSL side.

Mahomes is something of an aerial dominance expert. So it’s no surprise that he also invested in private jet provider AirShare. It’s a partnership that offers Mahomes plenty of breathing room, allowing him to use private jets at his leisure.

As a professional athlete, few things are as important as recovery. Mahomes has stayed pretty healthy throughout his career. A big reason for that is his commitment to getting proper treatment after the game.
As such, Mahomes made sure to throw his bag into something he feels passionate about.
