RTB Fitness Club: It’s not too late to start your fitness journey

New Zealand’s biggest fun run, Round the Bays 2023, is set for Sunday March 5 and so be ready things started RTB Fitness Club. It’s an 8-week training program designed to get you fit and excited about exercising with a like-minded community, whether you’re doing the event in person in Auckland or virtually. Each week we’ll bring you stories to inspire and educate you on your fitness journey. Join RTB Fitness Club here.

RTB Fitness Club may have seen members on a fitness journey for a month now, but trainer Bevan James Isles says it’s not too late to join and start kicking goals.

While the program is designed to get Aotearoa match-fit in time for the Round the Bays fun run in Auckland in March, that particular date shouldn’t mark the end of someone’s journey, says Isles.

And for those who sign up now, even though you won’t complete the full program in time for the fun run, you can easily participate and include it as one of your scheduled training days.

No matter when you start, the benefits of the program will go far beyond that one race day in March, he says.

As for those already on the program, participants are already seeing the benefits within the first four weeks.

One member of the club’s Facebook community said the program’s video components “really keep you in your mindset until your fitness catches up,” while another said it was great to know she was on her way to being fitter before January even rolled around finished.

The program can lead to multiple benefits “no matter when you start,” Isles says.

“The program will always work.”

In addition to a full 8-week program, Eyles provides weekly video Q&A sessions, and the private Facebook group has an active community of members who support and encourage each other on their own journey.

“There are really great comments on the Facebook page,” he says.

“When you feel part of a community, you feel responsible, but you also feel like you’re adding value,” he says.

Members not only support each other’s successes, but also discuss their struggles, which helps keep everyone on track, Isles says.

“These people have never met, but they all really support each other… Shared experiences are really important things in life.”

“You’re going to get fitter and fitter, but it’s really a realistic program where you can lay the foundations [of a healthier lifestyle].”

And ultimately, no matter when you start, the program is designed to empower people to create long-term habits.

And this, he says, has no end date.

“You will learn to believe in yourself. You will learn that you can handle the tougher times in life.

“Ultimately, we feel better about ourselves when we make better choices.”
