St. John’s Music Ministry Christmas Concert raises money for Dover Children’s Home

DOVER — The Rev. Jeff Hunt and music director Stephen McKenzie of the United Methodist Church of St. John, at 29 Cataract Boulevard, presented a check to Melissa Larocque, director of operations for the Dover Children’s Home.

On December 3, 2023, St. John’s Music Ministry presented its annual Christmas concert, this year titled “Holy Night.” The concert was promoted to benefit DCH, and during a musical intermission, DCH Executive Director Renee Twohey-Childress spoke about the organization’s long history of serving children in need in Dover and beyond. Although there was no admission to the concert, a total donation of over $1,000 was received. St. John’s has had a close relationship with DCH for many years and was thrilled with the audience response.

Strawbery Banke Museum and Gather partner to sweeten the visitor experience

PORTSMOUTH – Strawbery Banke has announced a partnership with Gather to provide baked goods for the ice skating season at the Labrie Family Skate at Puddle Dock Pond. Visitors can now purchase an array of treats freshly baked by Gather Café at the reception desk in the Lawrence J. Yerdon Visitor Center.

Strawbery Banke delivers cookies and other baked goods every week from Gather Café. Paired with hot chocolate, they’ve become a favorite among patrons, especially after a day of skating. As the main skating season approaches, the museum plans to introduce additional menu options, enriching the offerings for visitors.

Gather Café at Great Bay Community College opened its doors in the summer of 2022, partnering with the college to address the growing problem of food insecurity among students. The cafeteria is also open to the public, offering a two-tier pricing system that provides students with access to nutritious meals at greatly reduced prices. Café recently launched a popular catering service to further support operations.
