“I can’t believe it’s been just over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson said in a statement. “To be a part of something that so many generations of people have loved has made me so proud and now to be back where it all started working on the sequel is surreal! I love performing with my brother Kel and I can’t wait to show fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
Mitchell added: “Ed is one of those timeless characters who has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to continue to do so after all these years. It’s super cool to be back and continue the Dex, Ed and Good Burger stories for both the people who grew up watching them and their kids.”
in A good burger 2according to the publication, “Dexter Reed’s luck is failing after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new team working at Good Burger, Dex comes up with a plan to get back on his feet, but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”

Thompson, 44, was last teasing a prospect A good burger continuation during appearance in August of The show tonightwhen Fallon asked the longtime Saturday Night Live star for a joint Instagram post she made with Mitchell, 44, a month earlier to celebrate A good burger25th anniversary.
“Is that what you’re saying A good burger 2 happening?” Fallon asked of the post, which included a caption that read in part, “Yeah, if this part 2?!”

– I would like! Thompson answered then. “We’re working harder than ever, so it’s about hitting the numbers, letting them match. Because I need them.”
A good burger is famous for a sketch hosted by Mitchell on the 1990s Nickelodeon children’s comedy series All thiswhere his character Ed – a likable and well-intentioned but admittedly dim-witted fast-food employee – is often seen unwittingly terrorizing Thompson’s various characters and others.
Thompson later starred in the film version of A good burger alongside Mitchell, in which he plays high school student Dexter Reed, who reluctantly gets a summer job at a restaurant.
At first somewhat of a hindrance to Ed, Dexter eventually teams up with him to help take down a rival burger chain run by a greedy corporation. Of course, they become best friends in the process.
Back in 2020, Mitchell told PEOPLE about a potential sequel that the cast of the first film “met to discuss some ideas for A good burger 2.”
“So we’re still trying to flesh it out, trying to put it together,” he said at the time. “We want it to be just as fun for everyone as it was the first time, and then cater to both the new generation and the old generation. It was sort of a task to make sure we were doing well. But it’s still under negotiation.”
