MUSKEGON – Muskegon-based Sparrow Consulting has announced it will change its business model to focus on hospitality, tourism and cannabis music events. Dérive Travel, a subsidiary of Sparrow Consulting, will offer cannabis-friendly accommodation and comprehensive travel planning services to travelers worldwide.
Sparrow Consulting’s announcement comes at a time when many cannabis-related businesses are struggling due to uncertain regulations and competition from larger companies. However, the cannabis market is expected to reach $75 billion by 2030. With its new direction, Sparrow Consulting plans to capitalize on this growth by providing comprehensive travel planning and accommodation services to cannabis users worldwide.
“Muskegon is a great place to debut travel planning and accommodation with a high level of concierge. Muskegon has seen incredible growth in hospitality and tourism over the last decade, just look at our success with Cannabash!” , said executive director Connie Maxim-Sparrow.
“Sparrow Consulting joins Michigo, the Michigan Cannabis Travel Association, and Sparx and Recreation, the newest travel publication to hit the cannabis scene. Michigan’s Cannabis Thought Leaders continue to push the envelope by finding ways to combine all that Michigan has to offer in both tourism and cannabis! Those interested in learning more about this new offering, Dérive Travel invites them to visit www.derive-travel.com to learn more.”
The company has already started working with several businesses in Michigan, Colorado and Missouri. Dérive Travel CEO Connie Maxim-Sparrow said the company made the decision to pivot because they believe there is still great potential in the cannabis industry and the accommodation space is growing exponentially.
Sparrow Consulting also created Dedaco, a state-licensed temporary marijuana production company. Dedaco will produce Cannabash 2023 in Muskegon on July 8th. The inaugural Cannabash in July 2022 drew more than 7,000 attendees to Softball World to experience a stigma-free festival of legally sold cannabis products. Dedaco expects to announce this year’s Cannabash lineup in the coming weeks, with tickets going on sale this month.
Dérive Travel also provides services in the hospitality and cannabis tourism market segment. The company offers its customers unmatched expertise and resources when it comes to traveling to areas where cannabis is legal, Maxim-Sparrow said. With legalization on the rise, Dérive Travel is well positioned to help individuals and groups explore all that the cannabis tourism industry has to offer. Working with licensed cannabis brands, focusing on dispensary tours and grow operations to cannabis-friendly accommodations, the company will provide everything you need for an unforgettable cannabis vacation.
In response to the explosive growth of the legalized cannabis market across North America, Dérive Travel will provide hospitality and cannabis tourism services with its portfolio. The move positions Dérive Travel as an early player in what some industry experts expect to be a $20 billion hospitality and tourism market by 2030.
The division will focus on bringing together two exploding markets:
Essential travel seeking unique experiences off the beaten path;
Legal cannabis enthusiasts who want fascinating adventures of how this newly liberated plant is integrated into society outside their state or country.
From researching a destination, recommending activities ranging from Bud & Breakfast™ (think Airbnb, but a butter-infused breakfast instead), arranging private dinners hosted by personal chefs cooking with a combination of herbs, or getting tickets to the latest cannabis music, a festival like Cannabash, Maxim -Sparrow said Derive offers something for everyone to experience a soaring travel experience. His first Bud & Breakfast, The Nest, offers accommodations in Muskegon. The nest is listed on several tourist sites around the world.
