Junior pitcher Brady Chambers threw a two-hitter as the Lyons Township High School baseball team defeated Downers Grove North 2-0 on April 11.
Chambers, a Michigan State commit, also had nine strikeouts and two walks on 48 hits in 76 pitches for the Lions (8-3, 4-2 in West Suburban Conference Silver).
Sam Vineyard (2 for 3) and Frederick Ragsdale III (2 walks) scored runs. James Georgelos (sacrifice fly) and Troy Stuckenberg had hits.
Downers North clinched the season series on April 13 with another 7-6 victory. Georgelos (triple, double), Ragsdale (double), Stukenberg (triple), Vinyard and Tristan Hall each had two hits.
LTHS used an 11-run sixth to beat Glenbard West 19-9 on April 12 and sweep its season series. Ragsdale was 4 for 4, and Jack Foles, Patrick Engels and Ryan Jackson all homered.
LTHS defeated Addison Trail 12-1 in five innings on April 15. Winning pitcher Foles (4 strikeouts in 3 innings) and Xzavier Vargas (5 strikeouts) combined for four hits. Ragsdale (triple) and Falls (double) each had two hits and three RBI.
LTHS Girls Soccer

The undefeated Lions (10-0) won the Lou Malnati’s Deep Dish Classic championship game 4-1 over Evanston on April 15.
Caroline McKenna, Katie O’Malley, Zibby Michaelson and Carolina Capizzi scored with assists from O’Malley, Avery Wengerd and Carolyn Mortonson.
O’Malley (team-best 6 goals and 13 assists), Capizzi and Niamh Griffin (5 goals each) and Mortonson (3 goals, 5 assists) are among the top scorers this season. The Wildcats recorded the first goal scored on the Lions this season.
LTHS beat New Trier 1-0 in the semifinals on April 13 on a goal by Mortonson and beat Loyola 3-0 on April 12, Glenbrook South 3-0 on April 10 and Lake Forest 3-0 on April 8 in bracket play .
Against Loyola, O’Malley, Josey Pochocki and Griffin scored with three assists from Mortonson. The two insurance goals came after LTHS played the second half of the second half with 10 men after O’Malley received two yellow cards.

LTHS Softball
The Lions (1-7) picked up their first win on April 14, defeating Stagg 15-10 in Palos Hills.
Peyton O’Flaherty hit a two-run homer en route to going 3 for 4 with five runs batted in. Ava Jacklin (3 for 4, 4 RBI) and Ida Castro (3 for 5, 3 RBI) were also offensive catalysts.
LTHS Boys Track and Field
Senior Will DiCessa was third in the triple jump (13.70 meters/44 feet, 11.25 inches), two inches off his lifetime best, to lead the Lions’ finalists at the April 15 Minooka SmithStrong Invitational.
Vince Barcelona (110 high hurdles in 15.59) and the 3,200 relay (John Myers, Michael Ferrell, Matt McGovern, Nick Strayer in 8:09.25) were fourth. The 1,600-meter relay team of Jack Rempfer, Matthew McGovern, Michael Ferrell and Nick Strayer finished fifth (3:29.34).
Trevor Devries (6.13m/20-1.25m long jump) and Rempfer (400 in 50.94) were sixth.
On April 8, the Lions (177 points) won the Argo Invite by 91 points. Event champions were DiCessa (13.6m/44-7.5 in the triple jump), Devries (21-5.5 in the long jump), McGovern (400 in 52.05), Strayer (800 in 2:01, 45), the 400 relay (Rempfer, Adam Quack, DiSessa, Adrian Llerenas in 44.81), the 800 relay (Rempfer, Dan Montesano, Jack McMahon, Ryan Gugliuzza in 1:32.72), the 1,600 relay (McGovern, Ferrell, Aidan Fulliard, Strayer in 3:33.54) and the 3,200 relay (John Barrette, Kole Beck-Jewusiak, Teddy Coyne, Fouliard in 8:35.60).
LTHS Boys Volleyball
The Lions (8-3, 1-1 in WSC Silver) picked up their first conference win and second in three sets by defeating Oak Park and River Forest 25-19, 20-25, 25-20 on April 11.
LTHS then defeated Morton 25-14, 25-23 on April 13 and Willowbrook 25-16, 25-19 on April 14.
