NTPC: Malaysia’s Petronas proposed ₹38 billion rupees to buy a 20% stake in the green energy division of India’s largest power producer, NTPC, in a first-ever deal by a state-owned firm, according to an agency report. The bid price was higher than ₹30 billion NTPC expected when it called for expressions of interest in NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) last year. It values NGEL at $2.3 billion.
IDBI Bank: The Union government may delay IDBI Bank’s $4 billion privatization plan amid concerns that unprecedented market volatility may deter potential buyers. At current prices, the government and state-owned Life Insurance Corp. of India (LIC) would need to sell at least 68% to raise $4 billion.
Adani Enterprises: The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE have announced that three Adani group companies – Adani Enterprises, Adani Power and Adani Wilmar – will come out of the short-term Additional Surveillance Measure (ASM), effective March 17. Stock exchanges placed the three Adani group firms under the ASM framework on March 8.
Zee Entertainment: The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has allowed Indian Performing Right Society Ltd, an operational creditor of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, to withdraw its insolvency petition. The move will bring the company one step closer to merging with a division of Sony Group to create a $10 billion media platform.
Samvardhana Matherson: Japan’s Sumitomo Wiring Systems on Thursday unloaded 3.4% in Samvardhana Motherson International for ₹1,612 crore through an open market transaction. Sumitomo Wiring Systems (SWS) is the organizer of Samvardhana Motherson International (SAMIL). According to bulk trade data available on the National Stock Exchange, Sumitomo sold 23 crore shares of the firm at an average price of ₹70.1 per piece.
Hindustan Aeronautics: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, in a meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council, approved supply proposals ₹70,000 crore worth of various weapon systems for the Indian Defense Forces. The deal involves the purchase of 60 UH maritime helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) worth ₹32,000 crores.
