April is halfway to Halloween, and this month features horror offerings accordingly. While The Pope’s Exorcist, Bo is afraid, Renfieldand Evil Dead Rise Ensure a solid theatrical horror slate in April, TV premieres get even more extensive. Of course, it doesn’t stop there. New releases coming to streaming this month keep the Halloween spirit alive and well.
Here are ten notable horror titles available for streaming April 2023 on some of the most popular streaming services, along with when/where you can watch them.
A bottle – Netflix (April 7)

The vampiric Chupacabra makes a reappearance in Netflix’s fantasy film A bottle. To the nun Demian Bichir stars in this family adventure which sees a teenager discover an adorable baby chupacabra. Christian Slater (Heathers, Interview with the vampire) also stars. A bottle is directed by Jonas Cuarón (Deserted), are by the famous director Alfonso Cuaron.
The holy spider – Netflix (April 7)
This festival favorite arrives on Netflix this week for true crime fans. The serial killer thriller follows a “journalist who descends into the dark dungeons of the Iranian holy city of Mashhad as she investigates the serial murders of sex workers by the so-called ‘Spider Killer’ who believes he is ridding the streets of sinners.” ” The holy spider hailed by director Ali Abbasi (Border“The Last of Us,” Shelly).
cube – SCREAMBOX (April 11)

The Japanese remake of Vincenzo Natali’s sci-fi cult classic cube, directed by Yasuhiko Shimizu (“Retirement: Love Is Pink”), finally hits shore this month. The newest cube takes a deeper, dark and deadly look at isolation and gore and follows a group of strangers trapped in a sadistic maze with no memory of how they got there. After waking up drugged and disoriented, the seemingly unrelated prisoners find themselves in a mysterious room inscribed with an unknown code.
Kids vs. Aliens – Shudder (April 14)
in Kids vs. Aliens, produced by Bloody Disgusting, Cinepocalypse and Studio71, Gary (Dominic Marish) wants to make home movies about wrestling with his best friends. Gary is annoyed that his older sister Samantha (Phoebe Rex) wants to skip their wrestling fun to hang out with the cool kids. When the siblings’ parents leave town on Halloween weekend, a teenage party turns into horror when aliens attack, forcing the siblings to band together to survive the night. Get ready to cheer, “F*ck space!”
Phenomena – Netflix (April 14)
The Spanish horror film was co-written by Fernando Navarro (Veronica, Venus). In the film, Sagrario (Belen Rueda), Paz (Gracia Olayo), Gloria (Tony Acosta) and Father Giron (Emilio Gutiérrez Cava) form an investigative team specializing in paranormal phenomena: the Hepta group. Although the group is not having the best time, they agree to investigate an antique shop where strange things are happening. But what seems like a case like any other will turn into the most difficult of their lives. And only together will they be able to solve it.

Veronica Gent (Alice Cridge) is a famous actress who is looking for a peaceful recovery after a double mastectomy. She travels to seclusion in the Highlands, accompanied by young nurse Desi (Kota Eberhardt). Her journey coincides with the upcoming knighthood of Eric Hatburn (Malcolm McDowell), the acclaimed director of the first film that launched Veronica’s career. Veronica creates a unique connection with the earth, especially while sleeping. Through Veronica’s dreams, locked away memories resurface and awaken something inside. She will offers an intoxicating visual feast, casting a tantalizing spell of slow awakening and payback in this magical tale.

After a theatrical and VOD release earlier this year, this Jewish horror film is headed to Hulu this month. It starts with an autopsy. In the film After a young Jewish girl disappears, the son of a Hasidic funeral director returns home with his pregnant wife in hopes of reconciling with his father. Little do they know that right below them in the family morgue, an ancient evil with sinister plans for the unborn child lurks in a mysterious corpse.

Diana Agron (Shiva Baby, I am number four) stars in this psychological thriller in which a woman tries to fix her broken biological clock after friends, family and society pressure her to have children. The trailer teases that her journey will be full of spiders, paranoia and psychological terror. Clock is written and directed by Alexis Jacknow, who previously helmed shorts ‘Clock’ and ‘Costume Change’ for the first season of 20th Digital Studio’s Bite Size Halloween.
