There are plenty of great new movies on VOD this week, including the art world crime thriller The killing roomstarring Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson, and Kenneth Branagh’s third appearance as detective Hercule Poirot in Ghosts in Venice.
This week is also on request Outlaw Johnny Blackk, a satirical comedy western that serves as a sequel to the 2009 action comedy spoof. Black dynamite. Both films star Michael Jay White, who also wrote and directed. White stars as the titular Johnny Black, a man with a plan to kill the man who killed his father. To do this, he steals the identity of a preacher (Byron Means) and settles into a new secret life to avenge his father’s death. Annika Noni Rose, Erica Ash and Barry Bostwick star.
These are just a few of the titles available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube and through your cable service this week. See what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
The killing room, from director Nicole Paone, reunites Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson for an art world thriller where Thurman’s Patrice, an art gallery owner, becomes embroiled in a money laundering scheme. When honest Patrice teams up with Jackson’s character Gordon and Joe Manganiello’s killer Reggie, the plan is for her art gallery to serve as a front for fake artwork painted by Reggie. When the artwork becomes an art world sensation, their low-profile scam accidentally thrusts them into a spotlight that threatens to expose them.
I’m not sure I would have ever imagined a movie starring Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Kenneth Branagh and Tina Fey, but Branagh has assembled an eclectic ensemble for his latest Hercule Poirot film. Ghosts in Venice. Based on Agatha Christie Halloween partythe film arrived on demand on October 31 and features a deadly dinner and séance where guests are stalked by a mysterious killer.
