Once a couple gets engaged (sometimes even long before!), wedding dates become a seemingly constant discussion. Obviously, there are many factors to consider, but some dates are much more in demand than others throughout the year. And in 2023? There is a date that is the most popular wedding date than anyone else.
We’ll get to that. But while many people may think that the only factors worth considering for a wedding include the weather and/or the time of year, numerologists such as Glynis McCants (author of Love in Numbers: How to Find Great Love or Rekindle the Love You Have Through the Power of Numerology) believe there are other components to the perfect wedding date – numbers that are calculated from the date itself.
But first, let’s see if you’ll be attending (or planning!) a wedding on the most popular date in 2023.

What is the most popular wedding date in 2023?
According to The knotthe most popular wedding date this year is September 23, 2023. Some aspects of this date are not surprising. After all, Saturday is the most popular day of the week to get married, and September is a wonderful time of year across the country (plus the weather is usually just right!). Also, the double use of “23” in this year’s search date will make the anniversary not only easy to remember, but also give it a special, unique flavor.

What does the date mean in numerology?
So 9/23/2023 — what does it mean? According to McCants, it’s a 5, 5, 3 match.
Wait a minute – how exactly does this work? “There are three numbers in a date,” McCants explains to Parade. “So I take the month and the day and reduce it to a single number. Nine plus two plus three is 14. One plus four is five. Then the actual day is the 23rd. Two plus three is five, and then I take the full date, 9/23/2023. When you add that straight up and bring it down to one digit, that’s three. This date is 5, 5, 3.”
And what does it mean? “In numerology, fives and threes are the light,” says McCants. “They celebrate life. It’s about laughter, about communication.” And it’s no surprise to McCants why it’s the most popular date for 2023. “I totally understand why this date is on fire right now,” she shares. “Because it’s exciting. It’s fun. It’s freedom. It’s adventure. It’s laughter. It’s playful. And it is definitely party.”
While this means that the day is sure to be an amazing, epic celebration, there are some things to keep in mind when it comes to preparing for the big event.
McCants continues: “But five also means – and think about your own life – how often have you had a plan and wanted it to go perfectly and then something happened? You’re like, “I can’t believe that happened.” Right? It’s the five and there are double fives on that day – so that just means everyone who’s picked that date better plan perfectly. And when choosing these bridesmaids, make sure they support you. Because it turns into somebody getting drunk and saying something inappropriate, you know, a little bit of drama can come up that day.”

Tips for couples getting married on this day
“You need to make a list of everything you want to get done because it will be very easy to forget something,” explains McCants. “So, let’s pretend it’s a destination wedding. Well, then something can go wrong, you know, you’re at the airport, “Oh my god, they lost my luggage,” right? So it’s about paying attention to detail. And then it’s about being careful who you choose. Because you know, as a bride, we’re just excited, we want everyone to come, but sometimes one of the group gets jealous. You have seen it – they are like jealous of the bride because they have no love, let’s say. Well, you want to make sure that on the 5, 5, 3 day you choose those who adore you as your true friends. Even if it’s a smaller group, let it be a smaller group. I look at that day and I’m like, “Oh my God, this could be so much fun,” until someone something else wants to, like I said, get drunk, start crying… Anyone who wants to mess with the meeting can’t be there.”
But with the right planning and the right perspective, your day can still be the wedding of your dreams.
“It’s just ‘fun’, a celebration,” she repeats. “And PS, can you blame anyone? I mean, after the pandemic? Who wouldn’t want that, right? It’s like, ‘I just want to have fun, I don’t want to think about anything.'”
So, as long as you know that the day may not pass completely according to the plan in every aspect, you can relax and have the most amazing time, throwing a real party that everyone is sure to enjoy and remember for years to come.
What to consider when choosing a wedding date
Maybe you’re just attending a wedding in 2023, but you find yourself imagining your future wedding down the road. Some people think of sentimental dates from the past, like the day you first met or the time of year you first said “I love you.” But is there anything else to consider when trying to pick a romantic wedding date? McCants would say an emphatic “Yes!” and this involves learning your life path number and your partner’s life path number and then seeing which dates are compatible.
“In Love in numbersI lay out what is compatible and what is not,” she says Parade. “But if we just keep it simple – there are packages of numbers. The basic numbers in numerology are one to nine. So 1, 5, 7 is a pack – they count as mind numbers, they are very cerebral [and] always processing. 2, 4, 8? It is business thinking – they want security. If they work and get paid, then they are happiest. And then 3, 6, 9? Creative. They are the ones expressing themselves.”
What does this mean for wedding dates? McCants explains, “So, [for] for example, let’s say I’m a three and my partner is a six. Well, then we want to pick a date that carries that energy within it. We would like to choose 3, 6, 9 – as a three [and] six, if we pick a date that adds up to nine, it’s almost like saying, ‘We ended up on that day,’ you know, when we vowed to say ‘I do.'”
However, this only covers the basics. According to McCants, “Every person has a numerological plan made up of six numbers. When you look at an engaged couple’s numerology chart comparison, it’s wise to choose numbers they share in their numerology charts when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding date.”
Which number is the most romantic for weddings according to numerology?
“Number two [is] my favorite number in wedding numerology because it means ‘we love each other,’” McCants shares. “You know, it’s emotional, like, ‘I love you enough to say I love you.’ So this is my favorite number for a wedding date.”
An easy way to pick a date with number two? Get married on the 11th of the month (since one plus one equals two). In 2023, there are three Saturdays that fall on the 11th – in February, March and November.
In 2024, Saturday, May 11 will provide a “couple” in the numerology of your wedding date. And in 2025, you can include this number on either Saturday, January 11th or Saturday, October 11th.
There are definitely other ways to include two in your wedding date, such as in the date 9/2/2023 – the month and day added together equals 11 (and one and one equals two), or in 10/19/2024, the numbers of the month and the day are equal to 11, which also makes it two.
