Americans don’t want their cars to break down. The majority of car buyers care more about a car’s reliability than its safety, affordability or fuel efficiency, according to a consumer perception study conducted by Cox Automotive and Kelly Blue Book.

Each year, Consumer Reports, the consumer organization and nonprofit magazine dedicated to independent product testing, polls its members about the problems they’ve had with their vehicles in the previous 12 months to determine which car brands are the most reliable.
