A style professional has listed the fashion trends she thinks everyone will consider “ugly” in five to ten years.
Ellie of the US said people would look back with regret on “micro trends” such as denim maxi skirts, chunky trainers, slicked back hair and shorts.
Many agreed with the 20-year-old’s hot views, but some were quick to defend their favorite styles.
First, Ellie said that while she’s started wearing denim maxi skirts, she’s convinced it won’t be long before we find them “ugly” again.
“My initial reaction when I first saw it not worn on a model was, ‘What the hell, granny?’ Eventually, I’ll feel like this again,” she said in a TikTok video.

A fashion fan listed the trends she thinks everyone will consider ugly in a few years, starting with denim maxi skirts: “Everything that was ugly will be ugly again,” she said

“I think we can all agree that if we saw a long denim skirt two years ago, we’d all think it was super ugly, and I live by this rule: anything that’s ugly will be ugly again.”
Similarly, Ellie said the same goes for cargo maxi skirts and anything cargo-style, as she said people will eventually find the trend “weird.”
The next trend on Ellie’s list, which she said would “ruffle some feathers,” was slicked back hair.
“I don’t necessarily think this one is ever going to be ugly, but I just don’t think it’s going to be as cute as it is right now,” she explained.
“It used to be all about sexy, messy Victoria’s Secret hair, and eventually we’ll go back to that.”
Ellie said she can’t wait for the dress trend to be ‘dead’.

The fashionista threw tops and dresses with multiple cutouts. “I’m so sick of a top that has like eight different triangles and all this negative space in it, I don’t get it,” she said
“It’s been so remodeled in the last few years that now it looks so cheap and screams fast fashion,” she said,
“I can’t wait for it to be over, I think it’s so ugly now, I’m just waiting for everyone else to catch on.”
Clothes with mesh detailing was something Ellie said was big a few years ago, but it’s starting to fade now and she doesn’t like crocheted clothes.
“I’m actually really into crocheting right now. I think in five or ten years we’ll look back and think it was a bit childish,” she said.

Ellie wasn’t a fan of chunky accessories like sneakers and jewelry: “I think we’re starting to get into this very dressy fashion era and the piece is not going to go with it.”

Her latest trend was shorts for shorts that said “it was ugly, it’s gonna be ugly again.” “Don’t take personal offense because my opinion is completely irrelevant, but I’m always right, so we’ll see”
“I used to fall for it a lot, like it’s cool, it’s sexy – no, it’s not, it looks cheap.”

“I think we’re starting to get into this very elegant fashion era, and the piece, that’s not going to go with it,” she said.

“Don’t take any offense personally because my opinion is completely irrelevant, I’m a nobody with zero qualifications but I’m always right so we’ll see,” she joked.
Ellie’s clip attracted more than 3.3 million views and divided users in the comments, many of whom agreed with her controversial opinions.
“I’m so sick of frilly clothes and that’s basically every item if you shop a size up. It’s UNSAFE,” said one woman.
“I agree laced edges are on their way out,” agreed another, while a third wrote: “2023 smooth backs = 2013 socks.”
“Denim maxi skirts will never be a vibe,” one user replied.
“The cuts have ruined so many potentially good pieces,” someone added.
However, some weren’t so convinced with one saying: “I don’t think black mesh tops will go out of style for a while.”
“Biker shorts and a really baggy shirt is a hot combination,” commented another.
‘Crochet??! Crochet has been around for decades,” someone else pointed out, while another countered, “I’ll stick with chunky shoes FOREVER.”
