Unsealed court documents reveal Depp v. Heard rude texts with Marilyn Manson, ‘exotic dancer’ allegations

Thousands of pages of documents filed in the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case were revealed over the weekend, including text messages between the actor and Marilyn Manson and his team’s apparent attempt to bring his ex-wife’s “brief stint as an alien dancer” to trial.

The court documents, published online and verified by The Post, are drawn from a series of behind-the-scenes moves by lawyers on both sides to present certain claims to a jury in Fairfax, Virginia.

One 965-page document filed on March 28 details Heard’s opposition to a series of requests by Depp’s lawyers, including one to have his medical history excluded from trial and others requesting that potentially harmful information be provided about the actress.

Lawyers for the “Aquaman” star said Depp inappropriately sought to put up “a reality show video of Amber Heard’s sister Whitney” and “past romantic relationships between Whitney and Amber.”

Depp also wanted to tell the jury of “Amber’s brief stint as an exotic dancer years before she met Mr. Depp,” wrote her lawyers, as well as dissenting, “Mr. Depp attempts to imply, frivolously and maliciously, that Mrs. Heard was at one time a escort”.

The documents also showed new text messages between Depp and rocker Manson-born Brian Warner, who has been accused of sexual assault and grooming, including by his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood, who filed a defamation lawsuit in March.

In a 2016 script, Manson allegedly wrote, “I’ve got amber 2.0” and also “Lindsey has gotten rid of amber…please delete”

Depp replies, “I’ve read a lot of material about that and social behavior…it’s a real thing bro!! My ex is the damn TEXTBOOK!!!” according to the document.

Then Manson wrote, in apparent reference to an incident in which police were called to Deb and Heard’s shared Los Angeles apartment in 2016, “I’ve got serious police amber type scenarios with the L family. I’m pushing hard. I don’t know if you’ll come back but I need to” Asylum somewhere because I think the cops might be on my way.”

Heard’s lawyers alleged that Depp and Manson went into “substance abuse spells” together, including in the days before the actress arrived in Australia and the two got into an infamous fight that ended with the actor losing the tip of his right middle finger.

The filings also include a lengthy section of allegations that Heard’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft claims she was unable to ask Depp’s former agent Tracy Jacobs about, including that the actor “lied to LAPD.”

The list of “relevant and harmful information” excluded during the trial” included Mr. Depp appeared on television drunk and stoned, so much so that Disney studio managers called Ms. Jacobs asking “what the hell was wrong with your client,” the documents state. It is not clear what alleged appearance the attorney referred to in the lawsuit.

Heard’s team also claimed that “these same issues arose during the filming of Pirates 5 and Disney told Mrs. Jacobs that the behavior ‘would not be tolerated, Disney ‘would not tolerate this’ and that ‘there was no love between Johnny and Disney, given the situation of the Five Pirates'” .

Depp’s relationship with Disney played a major role in the trial, with his lawyers arguing that Heard’s defamatory allegations cost him tens of millions in future “pirate” revenue, while Heard’s team argued that Disney had fired the actor for his behavior.

The actor’s lawyers said Heard’s team was providing misleading evidence, noting that Bredehoft “could have continued to question Mrs. Jacobs for another three hours, but chose not to do so.”

The documents also show how Depp’s lawyers worked to rule out testimony about the actor’s arrest record and ongoing litigation in other cases, including an assault lawsuit that was settled in July.

Successful in his case, his lawyers said, “It would serve no purpose but to prejudice him in front of the jury” and that Heard would use it “to present evidence portraying Mr. Depp as a violent man.”

A jury awarded Depp $10.35 million for allegations of defamation through an op-ed in which Heard made allegations of domestic abuse. She received $2 million for her allegations that Depp’s lawyers made false and harmful comments about her.

In an interview with NBC News following the jury’s verdict, Heard lamented the evidence excluded from trial, including “a valuable file of notes going back to 2011 since the beginning of my relationship taken by my doctor, who I was reporting abuse to.”

Heard said, pointing to the evidence the jury was shielded from.

Heard’s representatives did not respond to a request for comment. Depp’s representatives have not commented.
