The 2024 WIAA boys high school basketball state tournament continues Friday with semifinal games from Division 1, Division 2 and Division 5 at the Kohl Center in Madison.

Abundant Life Christian fought back with hot shooting to take a 28-19 halftime lead over Almond-Bancroft in the second Division 5 semifinal of the day.

Jonah Coon had 11 points to lead the Challengers, who shot 50 percent from the field, including four of nine three-pointers.

Brody Dernbach had nine points and Aidan Phillips had eight for the Eagles, who shot 32 percent.

And here we are in the second semifinal of Division 5. Abundant Life Christian of Madison leads Almond-Bancroft 14-7 with 10:30 left in the first half.

Jonah Kuhn had seven points for Abundant Life, which shot 46 percent from the field.

Almond-Bancroft was hurt with 30 percent shooting and six turnovers. Brody Dernbach had all seven points for the Eagles.

Columbus Catholic won it 78-65 over Solon Springs in the first game of the day, a Division 5 semifinal.

Columbus’ Blake Jacobi hit four free throws in the final 1:04 to give the Dons a 72-65 lead. Charlie Moore then made two free throws to make it 74-65.

Solon Springs was held scoreless in the final 2:56 minutes of the game.

Cy Becker finished with a game-high 24 points for the Dons on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-6 3-pointers. Charlie Moore added 15 points and Emmit Konecny ​​14.

Columbus Catholic set a Division 5 state tournament record with 13 triples.

Dylan Taggert scored 22 points and Isaiah Kastern had 19 for Solon Springs.

Solon Springs’ Dylan Taggert had 15 points, including four of nine on three-point shooting, while Columbus’ Cy Becker had 17 points, including four of five three-pointers.

It’s a tight opener Friday, with Solon Springs leading Columbus Catholic 24-22 with 5:19 left in the first half.
