Windham tops Thornton Academy, remains undefeated

Conor Janvrin scored all 11 of his points during a 22-8 run in the second quarter, and Windham kept its undefeated record intact with a 52-40 victory over Thornton Academy in a Class AA boys basketball game Friday in Saco.

Tyree James finished with 13 points and Quinton Lindsay and Adrian Moody each had nine for Windham (5-0), which built a 31-20 halftime lead and controlled the rest of the way.

Wyatt Benoit led Thornton (4-2) with 16 points.

NOBLE 61, BIDDEFORD 53: The Knights (5-2) went on a 14-5 fourth quarter run to defeat the Tigers (2-4) in North Berwick.

Bryce Guithardt and Jamier Rose each hit three 3-pointers for Noble, finishing with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Andrew Marzoli added 12 points.

Travis Edgerton (15 points) and Drew Smith (14) both reached double figures for Biddeford.

OXFORD HILLS 46, MT. ARARAT 45: Holden Shaw scored 19 points as the Vikings (2-2) beat the Eagles (2-3) in overtime in Paris.

Carter Holbrook chipped in with 11 points.

Andrew Clemons scored 22 points for Mount Ararat. Logan Dubuque had 11.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 55, LAKE REGION 47: The Raiders (3-3) started the fourth quarter with seven straight points to break a 40-40 tie as they beat the Lakers (3-3) in Naples.

Jaeger Hellwig paced Freiburg with 16 points and Bojan Bundovski scored seven of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Lake Region was led by Brock Gibbons with 14 points and Evan Dupree with 10.

MARSHWOOD 34, MASSABESIC 30: Ryan Essex and Deshawn Toussaint each hit a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to lift the Hawks (1-6) over the Mustangs (0-6) in Waterboro.

Ronan Garrett scored 11 points and Essex and Toussaint each finished with nine for Marshwood.

Massabesic, which rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to tie the game at 30-30, got 11 points from Kyle Abbott and 10 from Andrew Boulanger.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

GORHAM 48, SANFORD 41: Julia Reed made six free throws in the final three minutes as the Rams (2-3) beat the Spartans (4-2) in Gorham.

Summer Gammon led Gorham with 15 points. Reid and Vanessa Walker each finished with 11.

Sanford’s Paige Sevigny scored 15 points. Julissa McBarron chipped in with 11.

BIDEFORD 64, NOBLE 13: Jordyn Crump finished with 18 points and five steals as the Tigers (3-4) edged the Knights (0-7) in Biddeford.

Thea Quint contributed a career-high 15 points, while Hannah Smith chipped in with 10.

Lynsey Hamm scored five points for Noble.

LEWISTON 55, DEERING 34: Natalie Beaudoin scored 19 points as the Blue Devils (4-2) beat the Rams (2-4) in Lewiston.

Coral Morin added 10 points.

Deering got 12 points from Natalie Santiago and 10 from Angelina Keough.

SACOPEE VALLEY 28, POLAND 18: Emma Boulanger scored 14 points to pace the Hawks (3-2) against the Knights (1-4) in Hiram.

Breanna Bartlett and Charlotte Grenier each scored nine points for Poland.

HOCKEY FOR BOYS

MESSALONSKEE 5, CAMDEN HILLS 4: Owen Kirk paced the Eagles (4-0) with two goals and an assist in a win over the Windjammers (4-3) at Kents Hill.

Grayson Poday chipped in with a goal and two assists, and Tatum Doucette and Garrett Card also scored for Messalonskee.

Billy Curtius led Camden Hills with two goals and two assists. Owen McManus also scored twice.
