The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office. Compiled by reporter Teresa Nims.
Monday, October 30
11:59 p.m.- Deputies were dispatched to a location in the Town of Homer in reference to a suspected drunk driver. Deputies arrived and found a 30-year-old man who was arrested and booked into the Midland County Jail.
10:16 p.m.- Deputies were dispatched to a Homer Township residence in reference to a 16-year-old runaway. Deputies contacted the 55-year-old guardian. Shortly after deputies made contact, the juvenile returned home. No further assistance requested.
9:59 p.m.- Deputies were dispatched to an injury crash in Greendale Township. One of the parties was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
8:05 pm – A deputy was dispatched to the area of E. Shearer Road near N. Wendt Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash. A damage report has been drawn up.
7:19 PM – Deputies were dispatched to a Porter Township residence. The complainant said a suspicious man told him he worked for an insurance company, took pictures of his property and left. The man has not been found.
5:22 p.m.- A deputy was dispatched to the area of N. M-30 near E. Shearer Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash. A crash report was made.
4:31 pm – A deputy was dispatched to the area of S. Meridian Road near E. Chippewa River Road for the report of a two-vehicle crash. A damage report has been drawn up.
4:31 PM – A deputy was dispatched to an area of DNR public land for a reported suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was found and marked for recovery as it appeared to be abandoned.
4:16 p.m. – A 38-year-old Lincoln Township woman said her neighbor, a 63-year-old man, is trespassing on her property. A deputy spoke with the neighbor and both parties were advised to stay on their side of the property line to prevent any trouble. The man was advised that trespassing charges would be issued if he continued to enter his neighbour’s property.
4:11 pm – Deputies were dispatched to the Porter Township location for a report of a hit and run that occurred earlier in the day. The only damage was scratch marks on the appellant’s car. There are currently no known suspects.
3:41 p.m.- Deputies were called to an injury accident in Homer Township. A crash report was made.
1:44 p.m.- A 70-year-old Edenville woman called 911 to report an argument between her 67-year-old ex-boyfriend and her 25-year-old grandson from Bay City. No assault ensued and the complainant and her grandson left for the day.
12:28 pm – The Midland County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division received a report from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services regarding allegations that an 8-year-old child may have been physically assaulted by a parent. However, after an investigation by Child Protective Services, nothing was uncovered that defined criminal victimization.
11:31 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a disabled vehicle on a roadway in Lee Township. The 20-year-old driver was without fuel because of a broken gas meter. The motorist was helped with some fuel and went on his way.
9:29 a.m. – A deputy animal control officer received a complaint about a cat bite in Midland Township. The cat’s owner has been issued an isolation note.
9:30 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a one-vehicle crash in Jerome Township. The 57-year-old driver fled the scene because he did not have a license. The registered owner of the car – a 41-year-old woman – has been contacted. A report on criminal acts and a traffic accident protocol have been drawn up.
8:07 a.m. – Deputies received multiple calls about a woman wearing a blanket jumping in front of cars in Homer and Lee Townships. Deputy found the 31-year-old woman, who was transported to the emergency room for a mental health evaluation.
1:57 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Lee Township residence in reference to a loud music complaint. Deputies made contact with a 51-year-old woman who agreed to have the music turned down.
