The recently released Dead space remake is a triumph among video game remakes, many of which have not been very well received by fans over the past few years. And like massive Dead space fan, I’m so happy to see EA spending money on the franchise again – with great results. But I can’t help but think about a Dead space a game that EA buried and most forgot about. This game is Dead space Movablea fantastic pocket horror game that desperately needs to be given a second chance.
Let’s travel back in time. This is 2011, a few years after the original Dead spaceRelease in 2008 Dead space 2 comes out and with it another entry in the franchise. But this game will not be released on consoles or PC. Instead, confusingly named Dead space (often referred to online as Dead space mobile) arrives on iOS and Android devices. At the time, I wondered: How good can a Dead space a mobile game actually? Then I played it and found it to be not just a good mobile game, but a great standalone horror game!
Set before the events of Dead space 2, Dead space Movable tells the story of Vandal, a recruit to the dreaded space cult seen throughout the franchise. Vandal is sent to Titan Station, where the sequel takes place, and inadvertently unleashes the Necromorph invasion on the space base, which Isaac must deal with later in the console game. The rest Dead space mobile features Vandal trying to fix this huge mistake, get evidence against the cult and help the people aboard the station escape. I won’t spoil its twists and turns, but it’s an engaging and suspenseful horror adventure that will take most players around two to four hours to complete.
What does it really do? Dead space mobile is so good that the developers behind the game designed it from the ground up to be a mobile game. For example, to grab or interact with the world, just tap the object or switch with your finger. No virtual buttons needed. When targeting the iconic Dead space plasma cutter, you tilt your phone slightly to flip the laser from horizontal to vertical. It sounds pretentious, but in practice it works well even during some of the later areas that throw loads of nasty monsters at you.
Not only does it work well, but it feels so different from today’s big mobile games, which are often covered in virtual buttons and joysticks and look like they were built with a controller or keyboard in mind and then ported to a phone. Dead space mobile instead feels perfectly at home on your small phone or tablet.
If you play Dead space mobile with headphones in a dark room, you can quickly forget you’re playing on a pint-sized mobile and get sucked into the game’s dark corridors and creepy atmosphere. Very few phone games have scared me and Dead space mobile phone is on this short list. Even with its slightly crowded graphics and limited lighting, this mobile interpretation of Dead space it was still a taut masterpiece that worked with its limitations and didn’t fight against them.

Unfortunately, this is the part of the story where I have to explain it Dead space mobile is currently not available for iOS or Android. in 2015 EA removed the game from digital stores and became unplayable on newer devices over the years.
Now, if you own an Android device and know what an APK file is and where to look, you can still technically enjoy it Dead space mobile in 2023 thanks to crafty and dedicated fans. But if you don’t, you’re out of luck, and it’s a shame that such a gem of a horror game was left to die by EA.
However, there may still be hope for Dead space Movable. I can confirm that the game runs fine on modern phones with a few mods made by fans. So it seems possible that EA will spend some money and relaunch Dead space mobile on newer phones. But even better than that: EA needs to take its time on the release Dead space mobile through consoles and PC too. Sure, it might need some tweaking, and some really low-res assets might need to be replaced, but it would be worth it. This will bring the game to more people and ensure that Dead Space mobile is not left behind again as the PC version can be more easily modified and updated by fans for years to come. And while I think Dead space mobile feels perfect on a phone, I think it will still be damn good on a controller. Or even Nintendo Switch!

Unfortunately, with recent news about EA killing mobile gamesit seems unlikely that the publisher would fund even a minor remaster of the Dead space mobile anytime. But if it does, I’ll be there ready to spend the money to buy and replay this fantastic horror game one more time.
