Fox6 News talked to a man working near the catastrophe scene. He said he heard what sounds like a speeding car, followed by a sudden and loud “boom”.

“I saw a guy lying on the ground and they made CPR on it, they couldn’t bring him back,” he said.

In a statement to the university campus community, Marquette University President Kim Ah Yun said both people killed in the accident were students. Two of the injured people were also students.

“We are saddened by students’ families and friends, as well as lecturers, staff and colleagues here in the campus campus that these students touched during our community,” Ah Yun said in a report. “I ask to keep families in their prayers. Such a loss is hard to understand, and I know it will be difficult for our community to come in the coming days.”
