Joe Walsh, a former member of the Republican Congress, said Tuesday that he becomes a democrat, noting his five -year series as political independence, leaving the GOP 2020.
Walsh announced his official connection with the Democratic Party on Tuesday’s Matrack post, saying he made a decision because he believes that the Republican Party threatens a democracy and the right to the state and believes that the GOP defeats “broad moderators, progressive and, even the Conservative coalition.”

“Take it from a former Republican fighter,” he wrote. “Republicans fight to death to win politically, and they always believed that Democrats wouldn’t do it. I was a fighter for a lifetime and if there was ever a moment when Americans cry for a Democratic Party with a certain fight, that is now.”
He added, “And look, here’s the thing. We will need a huge tent to defeat this Republican Party. We will need a big enough democratic tent to keep both Conservatives like Joe Walsh, and progressive as Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. I want to help build that big tent because I want to win.”
Walsh also pondered on his political and personal journey, saying he was still a “border hawk, unspeakable weapon rights defender and a boring free word defender. But I’m not the same guy as I was 15 years ago or even eight years ago.”
“I opened my eyes and listened to people who didn’t think like me,” he continued. “And in doing so, I gained a better understanding of LGBTQ issues and assessment, structural racism, the need for empathic immigration reform, the dangers of climate change and the role the government has to play to help care for the most unambiguous and vulnerable us.”
Walsh said he was more compassionate and sees the importance of decency, tolerance, understanding and empathy in politics, saying only the Democratic Party “Values and Practicing these Traits”.
“Donald Trump is the worst of us, and unfortunately the rest of the Republican Party mimics his cruelty, dishonesty and authoritarianism,” he continued. “We are better than what we have seen every day in the last four months. America is better than that. I, as a former Republican, know that cruelty is selling. Well, time for decency to sell.”
