Astronomers received a stunning image of a sculptor galaxy, painted in thousands of colors that reveal the confusion of galactic systems.

The incredible view of the galaxy, located in about 11 million light -years and also known as the NGC 253, was assembled with a very large telescope (VLT) multi -unit spectroscopic explorer (Muse) in Chile.

Not only does the image of the sculptor galaxies provide the image of the sculptor, but also the complex NGC 253 details. Thus, this could help to reveal smaller details about poorly understood and complex galaxy systems.

“The sculptor’s galaxy is in a sweet place,” said Enrico Congiu, head of the Universidad de Chile. – Close enough to solve its internal structure and explore its building blocks with incredible details, but at the same time large enough to see it as a whole system. ‘

Includes 65,000 light -years 90,000 light year galaxy, bringing the details of sculptor galaxy closer to this image requires 100 expositions collected more than 50 hours of Muse’s tracking time.

These efforts were justified by an unprecedented detail revealed in a picture of the sculptor’s Galaxy VLT.

“We can zoom in on studying regions where the stars make up the scale of almost individual stars, but we can also increase the galaxy to explore the galaxy,” said a team member of Kathryn Kreckel of the University of Heidelberg in Germany.

The initial video study has already paid the team to the team. During the video, they were able to discover 500 new planets, gas and dust shells that are thrown from stars like the sun after they “die” and fall into the “bloated” red giant phase.

This is quite extraordinary because such discovery behind the milk knee and the closest neighbors are quite rare.

“For our galaxy neighborhood, we usually encounter less than 100 detection through the galaxy,” said Fabian Scheuermann, a team member and researcher at Heidelberg University.

Planetary Nebula, which, despite its name, has nothing to do with the planets – it could give fruit in the future because astronomers can use them for distance measurements.

“After finding the planets of the planets, we allow us to check the distance to the galaxy, the critical information that includes the remaining galaxy research,” said Adam Leroy, a team member and researcher at Ohio State University.

This does not mean that the team is still completed with this image of the sculptor Galaxy. The next step of astronomers will be to investigate how hot gas flow through the NGC 253, changing the composition and helping to create new stars.

“Like such small processes can have such a great impact on a galaxy that is a mystery of all thousands of times larger,” Congiu concluded.

Team study was published on the Internet today (June 18) in Astronomy & Astrophysics.
