Third-grade teacher Holly Hill, 30, died Thursday, Oct. 23, of what her family said were complications related to the 2023 incident.
Hill, a wife and mother of three, then ordered a margarita at Hacienda Las Margaritas Bar & Grill in Elgin, Okla., but instead was served a drink laced with industrial cleaner, Fox23 and News9 reported.
“Her mouth was burning and she knew something was wrong,” Hill’s mother told News9. “She immediately jumped up and ran to the bathroom, started vomiting, started rinsing her mouth with water.
In the two-and-a-half years since then, Hill has dealt with health complications and also reached a confidential settlement with the restaurant after the court decision, according to News9.
“Holly has had a long and difficult medical journey for the past two and a half years while continuing to teach and care for her family,” relatives wrote in her obituary.
“Fighting through numerous procedures, hospital stays and uncertain days, she met each challenge with courage, faith and a calm strength that inspired everyone around her. Her tenacity and love were nothing short of amazing,” her obituary continued.
