Fatal Air India flight, with more than 240 people on Thursday, a crash after many years of effort to flip the country’s flag carrier, plagued by the tragedy and financial loss under the previous state property.
2010 The Air India flight from Dubai crossed the Mangalian city runway and plunged into a rock, killing 158 people out of 166 on board. And 2020. Air India Express, Air India’s subsidiary Air India Express, a strong rain in the South Indian runway skiing off the runway and was broken in two – 18 people and more than 120 others injured.
Both of these incidents participated in the older Boeing 737-800 aircraft-and occurred while the Air India still controlled the government. The Indian Conglomerate Tata Sons took over the Air India in 2022, returning the carrier to private property after it was ruled by the state for decades.
The agreement between the 180 billion rupees (then $ 2.4 billion worth) was, in a sense, the return of Air India, and the roots dating Tata’s family foundation about what was then called Tata Airlines in 1932.
Jitendra Bhargava, a former Airline Executive Director and author of Air India landing, said the government’s property encouraged the archaic work culture, outdated processes and management by bureaucrats unfamiliar with the aviation industry.
“You get a recipe for a disaster. And we survived it,” Bhargava told Associated Press. For this reason, he said the company’s bleeding money that had a “cascading effect” because he could not invest in updates.
Prior to the takeover of the Tata Sons, the Air India market share was about 12% and risked contraction when competitors expanded. Bhargava and other aviation experts emphasize that withdrawal of government control was necessary for Air India to compete with other private competitors – and the carrier has since tried to reinvent themselves by modernizing its operations and fleet.
In recent years, Air India has redesigned its brand and has ordered hundreds of new planes from both Boeing and Airbus. Analysts do not expect Thursday’s disaster, attended by a 12-year-old Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will change that partnership.
“It is true that the Air India and Tata organization was very proud of the fact that they committed to a great commitment to Boeing,” said Aviation and Leadership Consultant Anita Mendiratta.
Recognizing that Boeing has been injured in recent years, mainly due to problems with her 737 maxu, Mendiratta noted that there was still “hunger” worldwide to add new company aircraft to its fleet after the latest delivery delays. This includes the demand for 787 Dreamliner – which she says is “one of the most important aircraft when sustainable aviation, exhaust reduction, aviation costs.”
Boeing suffers from its safety problems, including fatal accidents in the past. According to the Aviation Safety Network database, it was the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner accident. And the cause of Thursday’s disaster is still unclear.
International investigation was underway and Boeing said “it seeks to gather more information”. Air India said she was also trying to get answers about what caused the disaster – at the same time promising to support those affected by the tragedy.
“It’s a difficult day for us all Air India,” CEO Campbell Wilson said in the recorded notes. “Now our efforts are only focused on the needs of our passengers, crew members, their families and relatives.”
Natarajan Chandrasecaran, Chairman of the Tata Sons, added in a statement that “no word can properly express the grief we are currently feeling.” He said that the company would give every person who lost his life through this tragedy 10 million rupees (almost $ 116,795) – also cover the medical expenses for anyone who was injured.
The Boeing 787 crashed in the Medical College after the upswing in the northwest city of India in Ahmedabad. According to an older Indian official and Air India, one passenger survived the accident. However, the airline said there were no other survivors – 241 – the last number of deaths.
In addition to fatal accidents in 2010 and 2020, the Air India Boeing 747 flight also crashed into the Arabian Sea in 1978, killed all 213 on board.
The carrier was controlled by the Government from 1953 to 2022.
Other fatal accidents associated with Indian state airlines are more than 50 people who died in the eastern city of Patna in 2000. 1993 1993 The flight crashed in the western city in Arangabad, killed 55. In 1988. 1988 Killed more than 130 people when the plane crashed in Ahmedabad and in 1991, 1991.
