17 members of the Federal Vaccine Advisory Committee said last week that sudden dismissal “left the US vaccine program critically weakened.”

Kennedy also said ABC News that the new ACIP members would re -analyze the current list of vaccines that are recommended for children because he did not trust the science that encouraged their initial approval.
ACIP is a group of independent scientists and clinic doctors that assess the safety, effectiveness and clinical need and voting on the guidelines for who should receive shots and when.
The Director of Disease Control and Prevention Centers has the final saying whether to accept recommendations.
Currently, the role of the CDC director remains free and Kennedy has made final recommendations.
“As former ACIP members, we are very concerned that these destabilizing decisions made without a clear justification can restore US immunization policy achievements, influence people’s ability to use rescue vaccines and eventually lead to family -friendly and avoidable diseases,” the former advisers wrote.
The group said that despite the latest Kennedy offers, health care providers have historically trusted the CDC advisory committee to make vaccine recommendations.

They noted that 99 out of 100 children in the US received at least a few vaccines recommended by the committee for up to 2 years, quoting CDC data.
