(FOX 2) – New details are emerging about a wild crash in Macomb County in which a suspected drunken driver crashed into a home and threw a 9-year-old girl out of her bedroom early this morning.
The child is recovering from injuries to his spine, sternum and ribs. She told FOX 2 last week that even after a day she felt better.
The family’s attorney said the lawsuit is currently targeting three people.

In the future, there could be as many as three people in the case of a terrible accident in Center Line. Twenty-year-old Caris Adell Wade drove her car into Laila Breitshtrus’ home on October 13, throwing the 9-year-old out of bed and into her yard.
She has already been charged with reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury or death. Once a toxicology report is available, her charges could be upgraded if a blood test shows she was under the influence.
But attorney David Femminineo says the owner of the car Wade was driving and possibly the bar that served her could also be named in the family’s lawsuit.

what they say
“Not only would the driver who caused the accident be liable, but the owner would also be liable for the negligent actions of the person who allowed her to drive,” said attorney David Femminineo.
“We’re told she refused all the tests, so they had to do the blood work. So, because they had to do the blood work, it’s taking time. As recently as this morning, the detective told us the blood work should be done this week or next week.”

Breitshtrus spoke earlier from her hospital bed, where she had cuts on her face, and was in good spirits considering her ordeal. Now, speaking from her home, she still faces a lot of physical therapy, but remains grateful to those who have helped her.
“I sleep curled up in a ball and on my side,” she said as she lay on the sofa. “I remember everyone checking on me, making sure I was okay. And then everyone was talking about the ambulance being here, and then the police officer came, it was very scary.”
In the back
The Detroit woman charged in the crash had previously fled the scene before being taken into custody.
She faces two charges and could face more if a pending toxicology report shows she was under the influence at the time of the crash. She fled the scene after crashing into a residence before she was eventually taken into custody, according to prosecutors.
She appeared in court Tuesday on a $200,000 cash bond after being charged with two counts of careless driving resulting in serious bodily impairment and failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury or death.
Wade was “intentionally, unintentionally and recklessly” driving her car Monday morning when she crashed into a Center Line residence, prosecutors said in a news release. Police suspect she may have been intoxicated at the time.
Her appearance before Judge Michael Chup in the 37th District Court was Tuesday morning. She has to wear a GPS strap if she connects.
