Forget the iPhone 17 Pro.

Seven weeks have passed since September 12. iPhone 17 pre-orders have begun, and Apple still hasn’t caught up with demand (although the iPhone Air is a lot easier than Apple would like). BGR has tracked iPhone 17 launch times every Friday since September 12, based on stock fluctuations in key markets in North America, Europe and Asia. Unlike previous years, it’s not just the latest Pro and Pro Max models that are getting longer shipping times. The standard iPhone 17 with an affordable price and Pro-class specifications has attracted huge interest from users.

Seven weeks after the start of pre-orders, the base iPhone 17 model is sold out in various markets, and all color and storage combinations are delayed by 2-3 weeks. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is also sold out online in some countries, though others have caught up with demand. iPhone 17 Pro availability also declined compared to last week in France and the UK, but improved in the US. The only iPhone Air stock restrictions seem to be in China. Interestingly, Japan is the only country we monitor where all four of the 2025 iPhone can be purchased online without any delay in delivery.

Our findings are consistent with what analysts have been saying for the better part of October. The three versions of the iPhone 17 are popular with consumers around the world, with the Air selling poorly in most markets except China. Just this week, reports highlighted strong sales of the iPhone 17 Pro Max in the US and the popularity of the standard iPhone 17 in China in its first 10 days on sale, while other stories noted that Apple would be significantly reducing production of the iPhone Air.

Each week we track iPhone 17 launch predictions for the US, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, China and Japan. We used the same online shopping simulation for each local Apple online store, looking at all possible storage and color combinations for the four models. These shipping estimates are accurate as of October 24th. in the morning:

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 2-3 weeks (USA, Canada, Germany, China), 7-10 working days (UK, France), in stock (Switzerland, Ireland, Japan)

  • iPhone 17 Pro: 2-3 weeks (Canada, Germany), 1-2 weeks (USA), 7-10 working days (UK, France), in stock (Switzerland, Ireland, China, Japan)

  • iPhone 17: 2-3 weeks (USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Ireland, China), in stock (France, Germany, Japan)

  • iPhone Air: 5-7 working days (China), in stock (USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Japan)

Our findings are easily replicable, but there are caveats. We have no idea how much inventory Apple has allocated to each of these markets and how much supply is available at brick-and-mortar retail stores. Also, estimates can change throughout the day as Apple updates inventory availability and continues to sell new iPhones.

If you placed your order within the last few weeks, Apple has shipped it to you or is in the process of shipping it to you. If you buy one of the iPhone models that are out of stock today, you will have to wait between 7 working days and 3 weeks depending on the market and model. Other markets are likely to experience similar stock discrepancies. Finally, electronics stores and mobile carriers may offer different shipping estimates depending on the market. Your best bet is Apple’s online and retail stores, if available in your region.
