In reality, the result was a worst-case scenario. District administrators gave him an ultimatum: resign within seven days or they would recommend to the Board of Education that he be fired.
“I know our students and families are mentally broken, and so am I,” Sila said. “I try to stay strong because at the end of the day, I want our students and our families to stay strong, just like I preached, no matter what you go through, no matter how many negative things happen in your life. You can get through it just by trying and getting through it.”
After the meeting, Sila was visibly emotional and hugged several of his supporters who also came to the district office to be with him.
Sila and his supporters said he got into trouble with the district, such as taking children out of school and hurting staff and administrators when he spoke up for students. Sila said she always chooses to do what is best for the students.
