2025 August The rumor distributed on the Internet stated that US President Donald Trump and the Republican Party had planned to operate federally to reduce consent from the age of sexual activity or the minimum age of marriage – up to 14 – historically controlled at state level. Snopes received readers’ search, asking if this rumor was correct.

On the contrary, supermarkets have reported that in recent months or years, Missouri, New Hampshire, Western Virginia and Viaoming forbidden or tightened restrictions related to marriage to people under 18 years of age.
Content creator Vitus V Spehar, who manages the Under the Desk News organization, also shared videos promoting this statement on Facebook (archived), Instagram (archived) and “dear” (archived), with about 4 million views. Other users also shared reports of the Bluesky (archived), Facebook (archived), Instagram, Threads (archived), “tiktok” (archived) and x (archived).
E -mail In a letter to the Snopes, the White House called the rumor “fake”. GOP National Press Secretary Kierten Ples also said, “This smear is an obvious lie pushed by media propagandists. No country in the US all prevents children from 14 years to marry adults Master and Spehar Email By mail and Instagram messages to request evidence to support their claims and will update this story if we receive more information.
