Another NASA Bigwig withdraws.
NASA announced on Monday (July 21) that Makenzie Lysrup, Director of Goddard Space Airline in Maryland, will leave the agency on 1 August.
This will be the second high -level agency withdrawal in just two months; Laurie Leshin, head of NASA Jet Drive Laboratory (JPL), in southern California, left her duties in June.
According to NASA, Goddard is home to the highest concentration of space scientists and engineers in the nation. The center, named after the Rocket Pioneer Robert Goddard, employs more than 8,000 employees and contractors.
These people do many different jobs. In Goddard, for example, Habble Space Telescope surgery has served as evidence of James Webb Space Telescope, a 10 billion dollar heir worth $ 10 billion.
The center has a special knowledge of the Earth’s observation, but its researchers investigate objects and phenomena in the solar system and beyond.
“Goddard scientists stare into the sun, crushing meteorites for the signs of life, which are life -building blocks, look at the farthest achievements of the space and spit on the secrets of our own changing world,” NASA officials wrote in the center. “Goddard engineers build sensitive instruments, build telescopes that engage in space and control test cameras to ensure that those satellites survive.”
From 2023 April Lydrup led Goddard. She received a doctoral degree in astrophysics from the University of London and used space and ground telescopes for the planetary atmospheric and magnetosphere studios.
“After performing various science and space civilian and government roles in their career, Makenzie encouraged the creation and / or contributing to various NASA’s priority scientific missions, including successful operation of our James Webb and more depicting and more depicting persons, as well as the Agents Roman Space Telescope. said in a Monday statement.
“We are grateful to Makenzie for her leadership NASA Goddard for more than two years, including her work, inspired by the golden age of researchers, scientists and engineers,” Wyche added.
Cynthia Simmons, currently deputy director of Goddard, will take over from Lydrup, following the actor’s duties, the NASA official said in a statement. The show did not say what Lylistrap plans to do further.

Leshino and lysprup withdrawals NASA comes in troubled time.
For example, President Donald Trump was proposed by 2026. The budget will reduce the agency’s overall funding by 24% and reduce money for its science programs by almost half. The budget, if it is accepted by Congress, would reduce the agency’s workforce by about a third and terminate dozens of missions, including the many who are currently working.
JPL and Goddard are two of the 10 major NASA research centers. Others are AMES Research Center and Armstrong Flight Research Center in California; Glenn Research Center in Ohio State; Johnson Space Center in Texas; Kennedy Space Center in Florida; Langley Research Center in Virginia; Marshal Space Center in Alabama; and Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
