in 2025 In late October, an online rumor claimed that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had revealed on live television that House Speaker Mike Johnson’s wife had a hidden connection to the LLC and was acting “shady.” According to the story, Maddow leaked documents with proof of this alleged relationship, prompting Johnson to quit.
For example, on October 25, Facebook user Anchor Square published story.

As the evidence flashed on the screen, Johnson reportedly turned pale, stood up and left the room in complete silence, leaving the entire camera stunned.
Other Facebook users also shared a lawsuit (screenshot, screenshot, screenshot). The top comments on some of these posts included links to articles hosted by WordPress. diaries.
The Anchor Square post used the word “cameras,” while other reports referred to a “hearing,” suggesting the alleged scene took place in a congressional hearing. But Google. search found no media outlets reporting the alleged incident. This rumor would have been widely reported by major media outlets if it is true. Also, at the time of this writing, Maddow’s full name did not appear In the Congressional Record, when Johnson was Speaker of the House, according to a search On the Congress website (archived).
Therefore, we rated this statement as false.
This exact story of Maddow being replaced by Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett has happened before spread on Facebook (screenshot).
Some of the pages that shared this story, including The Anchor Square and Rachel Unfiltered, have page managers based in Vietnam. A Snopes investigation previously found that foreign advertising companies, many based in Southeast Asia, are profiting from Facebook-generated stories like this one.
Snopes has reached out to the manager of The Anchor Square’s Facebook page to ask about the fabricated stories appearing on his feed and will update this story if we receive more information.
