Well, according to the basics of water resource management, the Láng-Ritter reviewed the data of a different population collected from the village dams 300 such projects from 35 countries to accurately. These data were concentrated in the 1975-2010, and these residents provided a significant set of data to check the other population calculated by organizations such as Worldpop, GWP, Grump, Landscan and GHS-POP (which were also analyzed in this study).
“When the dams are built, large areas flood and people need to be moved,” Láng-Ritter said in a press release. “The population of the convert is usually calculated precisely because the dams a company pay compensation to the victims. Unlike world population data sets, such local impact reports provide detailed, local population that is not adapted to administrative boundaries. Then we combine them with spatial information from satellite images.”

However, not everyone is convinced of this study. Stuart Gietelis-Basten from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology told the new scientist that although increased investment in rural population data would be useful, the idea that there may be several billions of people on Earth, which we think are very unlikely. “If we are definitely not enough to calculate that huge amount, it is a huge news and contradicts all thousands of other data sets.”
In an attempt to count such a huge population, several hundred, or even a few thousand can slip through cracks. But several millions or even a billion would increase our understanding of human occupation on this planet. Prior to rethinking decades of data collection studies, scientists will need a little more evidence.
